School was going well and i was speeding through biology, who knew that our bodies were so complicated. I was also quite ahead in history. Now i was just working on some simple things to give me a break for a little while. Jason was apparently fighting at the arena tonight. I asked to get off work an hour early, the owner was hesitant, but he said yes. I need to quit soon, i have plenty of money to survive, the black market makes sure of that. I also need time to focus on my martial arts and school.
I was sitting in a smoothie cafe because i had an hour before the fight, the kids were pretty animated. there was a couple sitting in one corner looking at each other adoringly, there was a group of guys that kept looking over at a group of girls. the girls didn't even realize as they were looking over some sort of project for what looked like DECA. A couple college kids were enjoying their time off. There was also what looked like a writer in a far back corner, she was on her 3rd cup of coffee and it looked like she was running out of steam. She was watching the two groups of teenagers and analyzing their every move. I went over to her and sat down across from her when i looked down at the table i saw a sign.

i peered into her coffee cup which earned me a glare and i noticed it was almost empty. I went up to the counter and got another cup of coffee and a strawberry smoothie and set them next to her. i then wrote a small not on the top of the coffee cup to keep persevering. she smiled slightly then focused back on her novel. I looked at my watch and noticed it was 7:45, i quickly went out of the cafe and ran to the arena making it to his dressing room right on time.
"Jason!" he picked me up and swung me around
"Hey bugga boo! how are you doing?" i grinned
"Just great!" he set me down and squeezed my sides and i had to hold in a flinch but he saw it.
"Whats wrong?" he asked suspiciously i looked at him weirdly
"Nothing, why would you" he lifted my shirt up slightly and saw that my ribs were wrapped up "Skylar! when did this happen? who did this to you?" he hung my head not daring to look him in the eyes
"Ummm, it may have happened on my birthday?" i said questioningly while shrugging
"Was this your dad?" i hung my head tears brimming at the corner of my eyes. he kissed my forehead,
"oh bugga boo, it's okay,im here for you now" i nodded and he picked me up in his arms
"Hey, how would you like a front row seat to the fight tonight?"i nuzzled my head into his neck
"i just want to be with you" he kissed the top of my head
"bugga boo i have a fight in 2 minutes, i can't do that, you can even walk out with me tonight if you want?" i thought about it and sighed
"yeah, i can walk out with you, who will i sit with though?"
"Lucas will watch out for you, you will be okay i promise" he started walking out of the room and over to the doors the guards looked at him curiously as he set me down and held onto my hand. Lucas came up and they lifted me on to their shoulders while holding my hands. i was kind of nervous but then the guards opened up the doors and everyone cheered
