Chapter 27

Rens POV

I was watching rocky out in his competition now. The competition ended up being in Daytona, FL so we headed out 2 days early to drive over there from New Smyrna so we could all get a feel for the surf, and the competition. We also wanted to do some sightseeing. Rocky, Annabelle, Clay, Rodney, Grace, Haven, and I were all entered in the competition. A few of the others came to watch but this was such an elite competition that only the few of us were good enough to enter. The process was that you had to send in a short video of you surfing and then you were picked. Most everyone who came to the Full Moon Surf Fest entered but only the small group was actually picked. "Are you excited monkey?" Oh, had i mentioned that maxwell had decided to start calling me monkey? yeah he did and i can get on my nerves sometimes. "Stop calling me monkey!" i whined "And yes i am excited and confident, surfings in my blood." he wrapped an arm around me and squeezed "That it is, you will be a champ just like your father, his first competition he swiped first place right out from a champs nose, i am sure you will do just the same." I laughed "I dont want to make quite such a name for myself just yet, but i will at somepoint. It is only my first competition after all. The ones at the FMSF don't really count." he chuckled "You will do so well, i am confident that you will get some sort of trophy" "ATTENTION EVERYONE THE WINNER OF THIS COMPETITION IS ROCKY BENSON!" we jumped up and started freaking out. I ran toward him and koala hugged him "I am so proud of you!" he hugged me back and spun me around. "I have to get my trophy boo bear." I hopped down and he swung an arm arond me and we walked toward the winners stands. He hopped up on the top podium and grinned as he recieved his gold medal. "SECOND PLACE IS TONY NACK, THIRD PLACE IS CLAY YOUNG" we cheered as we heard that Clay got third place. There were 3 rounds of ten surfers out there at the time and then they were going to do 1 round of 9 surfers, then another round of the 3 winners to get the age champion. They had 3 age groups in both the boys and the girls. Then they were going to do the gender champion by putting the 3 age group champions together. Then they were going to put the girl against the boy and find the overall champion. Haven and Rodney were in the same group of ten together and they were going next. "ALRIGHT EVERYONE WE HAVE THE SECOND HEAT FOR 15-19 YEAR OLD GUYS COMING UP HERE IN A MINUTE, THERE ARE 2 GUYS OUT THERE WHO ARE RETURNING THIS YEAR TO SEE WHO WILL WIN THE GOLD. ALEC AND HAVEN WILL BE GOING AGAINST EACH OTHER IN THIS HEAT TO SEE WHO CAN GET FIRST PLACE. ALRIGHT AND THEY ARE PADDLING OUT INTO THE WAVES. HAVEN HEADS INTO THE TUNNEL AND THERE GOES ALEC AFTER HIM. RODNEY IS RIDING THE TOP OF THE WAVE AND OH NO! 2 OF THE SURFERS WENT UNDER THE WAVES AND THEY ARE DISQUALIFIED! HAVEN COMES OUT OF THE TUNNEL FIRST AND FLIPS UP TO RIDE DOWN THE BACKSIDE OF THE WAVE. THERE GOES 3 OTHERS UNDER THE WAVE AND WE HAVE 5 SURFERS LEFT. OH LOOK AT THAT, LOOK AT THAT! RODNEY AND HAVEN ARE RIDING A MASSIVE 12 FOOT WAVE! THEY DO A DOUBLE FLIP THEY ARE GRABBING ONTO THE NOSE OF THEIR BOARDS AND GOING INTO THE TUNNEL. ALEC IS PADDLING OUT TO CATCH ANOTHER WAVE. THERE GOES OUR OTHER 2 SURFERS AND IT LOOKS LIKE THESE GUYS WILL BE COMPETING FOR THE PLACE MEDALS. OH MAN ALEC IS GOING UNDER THE WAVES AND COMING OUT THE OTHER END. HE COMES OUT THE OTHER END AND CATCHES A MASSIVE WAVE AND THERE IS THE FALL. IT LOOKS LIKE HE WILL GET 3RD PLACE. NOW ITS UP TO THESE TWO GUYS. HAVEN DOES ANOTHER FLIP AND THE TWO GENTLEMEN RIDE INTO SHORE. DID RODNEY JUST GIVE THE FIRST PLACE MEDAL UP TO HAVEN! IT LOOKS LIKE HE DID GUYS, IT LOOKS LIKE HE DID!" RODNEY COME ON OVER HERE AND TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED OUT THERE." "Hey mike, well i know the competition between alec and haven is really big and i thought that i might let haven win this time just to piss alec off a bit." he looked at rodney a little surprised and i smiled. "WELL IT LOOKS LIKE IT WORKED, ARE YOU GLAD YOU ARE AT LEAST MOVING ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL? DO YOU THINK YOU WILL GIVE UP YOUR PLACE TO HAVEN THEN?" he smirked "No i dont think i will. Haven, Rocky and i have a few tricks up our sleeves to get placed, then we will face off to see who will win first place to go forth to try and get champion." "THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PLAN YOUNG MAN, I WILL SEE YOU IN THE NEXT ROUND" he pattend rodney on the back and went back up to his announcer board. "I am so proud of you three, you better use what we came up with to place and then get first place, who do you think is going to get first place?" Rocky spoke up "We always switch it around, it is Haven's turn to win this year, I will get third and Rocky second. We are always picked to come to this competition." i nodded an yawned slightly when maxwell spoke up. "There is one more guys heat then you are in the second girls heat for your age group, so like 6 heats from now." i nodded and leaned into him then yawned again "Which heat are grace and annabelle in?" "they are in the first for there age group, the 15-19, which is the heat after this, you are second 10-14" i nodded and started to doze off. "I want to see them so wake me up when they go, and make sure i wake up." he nodded and i fell asleep.

I woke up just in time to see annabelle and grace compete and i was cheering the whole time. Annabelle landed first place and grace got second. "So how much longer until my heat?" maxwell looked at his watch and shrugged. "About an hour i would say" i nodded "Hey baby" jake came over and sat down with us shoving maxwell off of me and swinging his arm around my shoulder. I rolled my eyes but leaned into him nonetheless. It had been a week and i was really enjoying my relationship with him. He was such a sweetheart and he was so attentive. He has even been sneaking me out for the past week to let me go train at the arena. Now axel knows about this and doesn't mind in the slightest, but if maxwell were to find out i would be dead meat.Their parenting styles are a lot different. Reece has been trying everything he can to get my mind off of fighting but everyday i end up watching the MMA channel. I enjoy watching people get beat up, i just cant wait untill i get to do it next year! I only have 3 more weeks until my birthday, after that i will be starting Karate. I don't know how i feel about karate, because it's so common, but what can you do. He doesn't want to start me in boxing or wrestling just yet, and you can't really go against what your trainer says. It was the heat before mine and there were some pretty good girls around my age. One of the 3 that placed was eyeing me like she was trying to figure out something. I shrugged it off and went over to the group grabbing my music i hooked it onto my swimsuit and turned on Dead On Arrival by Fall Out Boy and dove into the waves getting lost in tune to the music

Unknowns POV

I saw her plug in her music and her foot tapped in time to the music as she dove into the waves. She pulled up onto a wave and the crowd went crazy as she did a flip. "WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT EVERYONE, WAIT SHE HAS HER EYES CLOSED AND HAS MUSIC IN! I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE CAN DO THAT!" i tuned the guy out and smiled, she was quite impressive. She went into a tunnel and pulled out riding the edge of the wave, she switched feet and rode down the back of it. 6 surfers have already been eliminated and she was just getting started. I looked through my binoculars and she had this look of serious concentration on her face. She came to the top of the next wave and she pulled her back foot up a bit and bent her front knee. She took a breath and then pulled up to flip and grab the nose of her board. One, two, three flips, she let go and rode the wave in.

Rens pov

I landed, i couldn't believe it, i landed a triple! "CONGRATULATIONS TO REN ADRIANCE, SHE IS NOW THE PROUD OWNER OF A GOLD MEDAL" i smiled as it was put around my neck and then noticed that same girl watching me. I saw her wink then disappear into the crowd.
