Chapter 16

Last night all of us went to see the Metallica concert and it was absolutely amazing. I Had gone to one concert before and it was the All-American Rejects, i had really enjoyed it and i was glad i went. It's currently 5 in the morning and we are getting read to head out of town and we were all driving back up to memphis. Max had his fight tonight so we had to leave pretty early, thankfully there are plenty of others to drive so he gets to chill in the back with me the whole time! I had talked to axel again and tried to convince him not to make me stay with jason, but it looked like it was inevitable. I fell asleep as soon as we hit the road, we had put some classic rock on and i guess it lulled me to sleep quite quickly. Sniffing the air i smelled pancakes next to me, i yawned and shifted around before opening my eyes"Ya'll had better made sure to get me some too" Max grabbed a container of mcdonalds breakfast and set it in my lap. "Mmmm, pancakes" "and hot chocolate" he pointed to a cup in my cupholder "Yummy!" i yawned again and fought to keep my eyes open. I tried to open the container but i had fallen back asleep within a few moments.

Axel's POV

We laughed a little bit as she fell back asleep, she had stayed out really late last night night surfing. I looked in the rearview mirror and smiled at my little angel wishing i could take her along with me. She had unfortunately missed too much school already and needed to keep moving forward. I really didn't want to force her to live with jason but i honestly didn't have much of a choice. I was thinking about what she was going to end up doing in life, i had a weird feeling she was going to follow rangers footsteps. I knew that she was going to be taking college classes, Electives and ROTC when she was in high school. She had mentioned that to jason once before. I was unsure of which branch she was aiming for, but i hope that she would just put her smarts into use, she was extremely bright.

Rens POV

I woke up to darkness and immediately knew we had arrived back home. I was in a bed with blankets over me. 8:38 pm, how long had i been out, i don't think max has had his fight yet, they were most likely drinking at the bar down the street. Taking a look at my phone i saw that i had a text from axel

*hey angel, we went out for some drinks before the fight starts at 9:30, be back around 9, love you* angel? That was a new one. Of course they were out drinking, if they are not fighting or doing something very important then they either have alcohol or a smoke in hand. It was normal and i got used to it pretty quickly. I put my hands behind my head and thought about my life, so much has happened this past year, I am actually surprised i am still alive at this rate. Florida was amazing though and i can't wait to go back next year. this next year should be interesting though, i will be finishing up all my elementary school work, moving in with Jason, i might start training to fight, and i am finally in the double digits for age. The boys came tumbling in drunk off their asses, Maxwell following behind looking completely sober. "Hey princess, are you awake?" What's with all the nicknames! i swear i have like 50 of them. I rolled over on my side "Yeah, how much longer until your fight?" he checked his watch "Like a half an hour or so, i gotta get ready though so i am turning on the light" I closed and covered my eyes. he chuckled when he saw me once the light was turned on, and all the drunkards groaned and whined about it, babies. I rolled off the bed and went out to the double doors to see how many people were out there, i wasn't tall enough to see the window so i tugged on one of the guards jackets "Can you give me a lift up to the window?" he nodded and lifted me up, there were so many people out there tonight, burnout has a big crowd of fans "Thanks" he set me down and i ran off back to burnouts room "You have a lot of people out there today burnout" he came out of the bathroom wearing only his shorts "Oh really now, and what's with the sudden name change?" i snorted "We are in the arena, and yeah, you have a lot of fans" he shook his head "That's mostly due to the other fighter, it normally isn't this crowded for me." i slumped in my seat "Oh, well it is almost time for you to go out are you ready?" he knocked his fists together "Ready as i will ever be." I followed him out and one of the guards held my hand as they opened the door then he led me out to one of the front row seats "Good luck Burnout!" i said to him as we parted ways and he winked at me before going into to his, well i guess you could call it fighter mode.

The other guys had sobered up by the time we got back in from the fight. It was a pretty even match so it took awhile, but max eventually won. He came out with barely a scratch, which was super impressive. "How did you do?" max went into the bathroom zoning out "Ah let him, and he won, as if you drunkard fools even care" they looked at me astonished "Since when did you get so sassy?" "Since when are you my father?" i retorted to axel, he glared at me unimpressed "I take care of y" "That doesn't matter, now bugger off and let me be who i am" he growled slightly under his breath "I do, but i also take care of you, ranger" "Ranger can *suck my dick*. He has no right to say what i can and can't do, he was never there for me and he never will be." i walked out of the room and into another "Hey girly, whatcha doin?" I slumped on to the floor against the door and hid my face "I have no idea" i mumbled. "Alrighty well, uh do you have parents?"i shook my head "Orphan" i nodded "Foster care or orphanage?" i shook my head "Neither?" i nodded and he seemed to get the picture "Alright well just don't trash the place, next fight for me is in a week, same time,maybe i will see ya around." i moved so he could open it "Just leave it locked when you leave and leave the key on the counter, its my spare." he locked the room and i went to the bed curling up in the blankets.
