Chapter 78

Veer was sitting at his desk, a serious expression on his face as he attended a video call with Japanese delegates.

This was an important meeting about a new project his company was working on. Ruhi, played in his lap with her favorite doll.

She giggled and babbled happily, but today, she was a little cranky. She wanted her father’s attention.

Veer absentmindedly caressed Ruhi’s cheek, trying to keep his focus on the meeting, he is known for being strict and never allowing any distractions during work hours.

His employees often saw him as the man who rarely smiled and who demanded perfection. However, the changes that fatherhood brought were surprising to him.

As the meeting went on, Ruhi squirmed in his lap.

Veer sighed softly, realizing that being a father had changed him. He was less grumpy now, more patient.

He often found himself smiling at Ruhi’s antics when he should have been frowning over business matters.

One of his employees, noticed Ruhi’s behavior and couldn’t help but make funny faces at her, trying to get her to smile.

Veer glanced over, and even though he admired his effort, he knew that they had important work to do.

Veer : Mr. Sharma, concentrate here. You can do this later.

“Sorry, sir!” Mr. Sharma quickly replied, putting his hands back on the table,

The meeting continued, but every time Ruhi made a sound, Veer would instinctively look down at her, his heart melting at her little smile.

Despite the serious business surrounding them, he couldn’t help but feel that these moments with his daughter were what truly mattered.

Finally the meeting got over, everyone left the cabin, he put the laptop down and pulled Ruhi into his arms.

Veer : why you're so cranky baby.

He sat on the couch with her on his lap and started feeding her broccoli bites.

Siddharth : ananya apne parents ke ghar gayi hai, uske parents ki aniversary aa rahi hai na, toh kuch din shaanti rahegi...6 mahine se soya nahi hu main chain se...kal raat sachme acchi neend aayi...

Veer : yeh baat toh sahi hai, ruhi bhi abhi abhi thoda subtle hone lagi hai warna toh harr raat jaagran hi hota tha.

His phone rang, Aditi's video call.

Veer : zara sambhal na isse aata hu main...

He nodded.

Veer went out and picked the call.

Veer : hi baccha...

Aditi : ruhi kaha hai...

Veer : kabhi apne pati ke baare mein bhi puch lo...

Aditi : veer...!!!

He chuckled.

Veer : sid aaya hai uske saath cabin mein hai...tum kya kar rahi ho...

Aditi : bass round up pe thi, abhi surgery ke liye jaungi...accha ruhi ko dikha do na ek baar...

Veer : baccha main dikha toh du lekin aaj pata nahi kyu thoda cranky behave kar rahi hai, mere alawa kisi ke pass jaa nahi rahi meeting bhi maine usse lekar attend ki, aur ek baar tumhe yaad kar chuki hai, toh uska uska dhyan divert kiya, ab agar tumhe dekhegi toh phir nahi rahegi mere pass bhi, better hai ki tum apna kaam khatam karke hi usse milo...

Aditi : okay...accha ab main rakhti hu...love you.

Veer was pacing here and there holding ruhi, she was crying...

Veer : aditi ka phone abhi bhi switched off hai dadi...maine usse kaha tha ki already ruhi thodi cranky behave kar rahi hai, itna late toh kabhi nahi hota...

Dadi : busy hogi veer...aati hi hogi...

Aditi : sorry...sorry...sorry...veer...aaja mera baccha...

She took ruhi.

Dadi : kya dadi...kya maine tumhe aur business ko akele nahi sambhala, haa tum ruhi jitne chote nahi the lekin 10 saal ke hi the... sambhala na maine...aur ab tumhe itni problem ho rahi hai tumhi ne usse kaha tha na ki hospital join kar lo...woh toh mana kar rahi thi...aur tum bhi ruhi ke papa ho...papa ho kar ek din bhi tum usse nahi samabhal sakte... bacche toh rote hi hai, zarurat hai unhe kya chahiye yeh samajhne ki...aditi sabse pehle maa hai...usne kabhi apne kaam ko ruhi se pehle nahi rakha...bohot easy hota hai maa ko irresponsible tag kar dena...ek father apni life ka ek part deta hai bacche ko... lekin maa apni puri life de deti hai, agar main tumse kahu ki ruhi ka dhyan rakhne ke liye tum apna business aur saare kaam chod do, chod paoge...? Toh usse kyu expect karte ho same...sach toh yeh hai ki hum equality ki kitni bhi baatein kar le lekin jab khud par baat aati hai toh sab bhul jaate hai...
