"A-Are you sure no one knows about this classroom you hide in?" I stutter as he tugs harder on my wrist, dragging me down the familiar hallway, not giving me a chance to even walk next to him like a normal human being.
"Stop being a coward," He rolls his eyes as he lets me go and starts raiding his pockets for the key chain.
He pulls it out slowly and shoots me a devilish smirk.
"What are those?" I ask as I stare at them blankly and he shrugs, waving them in my face.
"The classroom keys?" I gasp and his eyes widen.
He shushes me, cupping his hand over my mouth.
Oh we're back to this now.
"Yes, now stop being an idiot and just whisper. Your voice is so fucking loud and annoying. It hurts my ears." He groans and I roll my eyes.
"You're actually constantly yelling at me," I raise my eyebrows and he just gives me a glare then continues playing with the keys as if I hadn't said a word.
"Shut up. You're wasting valuable time," he groans.
"And I do whatever I want. Don't question me," He says as we take the stairs to the third floor.
It surprises me how fit he is as he runs up four steps as if they were one.
Perks of being tall.
"Well, I do whatever I want too," I shrug as I run up the stairs, trying to catch up to him.
He comes to a dead stop and turns, staring me down.
"You do what I want," He says, features hard as stone. And I gulp, nodding him along.
He nods back as his eyes take their sweet time wandering my body and again I feel uncomfortably bare as I break the contact.
"Look at me," he commands softly and even without looking up I can hear the smirk playing on his face.
"I said, look at me," he repeats, voice growing impatient.
I looked up to meet his dark jaded eyes and he smirked in satisfaction.
Why does he get a kick out of intimidating me?
"Go faster," he orders, resuming as he hustles up the stairs. I groan and take a breath, trying to quicken my strides.
"Didn't I tell you to stay quiet? " he huffed. "If I hear your squeaky voice one more time, you'll have two scars instead of one," He hisses as we reach the third floor.
"Oh so I'm not allowed to talk now?" I scoff, keeping my head low from the herd of students walking to their classes or standing by their lockers.
"What did I just say sweetheart?" He emphasizes the last word and I feel the bile taking shelter in my throat as he slowly takes my hand in his.
Why the frick frack does my hand look so small compared to his?
"Jake," I tug my hand away, but he grabs it and holds our intertwined fingers to his heart.
"You're drawing attention," he whispers, through gritted flashing teeth. "Act normal," he looks at me for assurance and I sigh, loosening my hand in his and try to look as relaxed as this situation allows me to be.
"Eve, stand behind me while I unlock this door. Oh and you better act normal...or else," He spits, his features constricted.
Oooh the or else card. I'm so scared.
