I closed the book that I am reading and placed on the bedside table when I heard a knock on the door. I saw Doctor Suarez and his assistant.

"Are you sure with this, Mr. Scott? You will lose the most important part of your body," the doctor said to me after he checked her condition.

I nodded at him and smiled. "I'm sure about it, Doc."

"You impressed me. You're such a nice person, Mr. Scott," he said and then he looked at her who is still sleeping peacefully. "She's so lucky that there is someone like you who is willing to give anything for her," he continued, smiling.

"Kindly sign this papers, Mr. Scott," he handed me a paper. I signed it and gave it back.

Doctor Suarez tapped my shoulder. "Be ready. We will start the transplant after one hour," he said and I just answered him with a nod.

I walked towards her after they left and I kissed her forehead. I sat at the bedside and held her hand.

I remembered the first time I saw her at the park. She was smiling brilliantly, laughing in spite of her condition. Sitting on the bench while holding her walking stick with her right hand. In her  left side was her mother, telling her a funny story that made me laughed too. And then, they noticed me. Her mother called me to join them and I did.

I was at the age of sixteen that time while she was two years younger than me.

When she was at the age of five, with her father, they're on their way home when something bad happened. Their car lost control and hit on one of the lamp posts. Her father died on the spot while she survived but her eyes were affected and she lost her sight.

Since that day at the park, we became friends. I always visited her at their house. She was also cleaning their house in her little own way. Sometimes she got help from me, I also got help from her. We bond together, sharing funny stuffs, teaching her and reading stories for her.

I saw how she never stopped believing and praying that one day she could have her sight back. Her faith never wavered. That inspired me. She inspired me.

For the first time, someone moved my heart that no one ever did. She, a girl with pure heart did it and all along I thought I would never meet a girl like her. But I did.

And then one day, I realized that I am already falling in love with her. My love became deeper and deeper every passing day. I didn't have the guts and the courage to confess about my feelings for her. I was afraid that she will reject me and it might affects our friendship.

"In my twenty years of existence, I've seen a lot of wonderful things in this world. But you know what is the most wonderful in all of them is?" I caressed her smooth face. "It's not a what, but it's a who, and it is you. You're the most beautiful that I've ever seen." I stood up and bent just to kiss her for the last time. "Now it's your turn to see how beautiful the world is."

My mind was telling me that what I'm about to do was totally wrong but my heart says otherwise. How could it be wrong when I was following my heart? It was love, indeed.

The sacrifice that I'm about to do is nothing compared to what Jesus Christ did. I will only lose my sight.  Unlike Him, He willingly offered his life to sanctified us from sin, once for all.

I felt someone tapped my back. I saw Tita Marissa looking at me with tears in her eyes.

"You're not oblige to do this, Kenneth," she said.
