Chapter 12
Lillian could be completely honest when she said within her 22 years of living on Earth; she had never shared a bed with anyone before.
Not her mother, or her sister. But she was forced to share this one, under the condition that Louis stays on the other side.
With her body lying on its side, she found breathing rather difficult when paired with the fact Louis's face was less than two inches away from her own and when the pirate captain's fell asleep, his arms were constricted around her in a near suffocating manner.
Lillian had no clue when or how she ended up sleeping with Louis in the bed beside him. All she truly could recall from last night was Louis giving her a new loose shirt and telling her that she had no choice but to sleep in there because he'd make sure no one else would store her away.
Lillian kind of figured as much. But she expected it to be as it always had been where she went to bed alone and woke up alone.
Not this time apparently.
She had no clue when Louis snuck in.
Lillian wanted to move away but how could she get away without disturbing him...?
Not that Lillian's first thought was letting Louis get a good rest; she just didn't want Louis awake to harass her.
They promised to be civil, but Lillian wasn't comfortable with the pirate holding and touching her so closely. She still was royalty after all. Not just anyone could touch her. Maybe Jeremy but he was long gone...
Lillian pushed the thought of the boy she once loved to the back of her head and looked at Louis.
His eyelids remained peacefully shut, his mouth was opened ever so slightly, and overall Louis appeared at the most serene Lillian had ever seen him. As the royal continued moving ahead at the slumbering boy she had to admit, Louis when he was sleeping was actually kind of cute.
Not the mysterious-attractive that Lillian had seen the night when Louis had been on The Rose, but a more subtle and adorable kind of attractive.
Now that they were up close, Lillian could actually see the imperfections that marred Louis's face. From afar, ever since Lillian winded up on One Direction it had appeared that Louis was entirely void of any scarring or deformities.
Lillian could see the fading scars.
One over his nose that appeared to have been from a sword of some kind. On his chin and seemingly extending toward his neck, Lillian was pretty sure there had been a massive burn. Across his cheek there may have been another sword cut, and it was slightly darker than the others that were already melting into Louis's skin permanently so it must have happened more recently.
She couldn't help but wonder how Louis received these. What had he been fighting for? Who had actually been able to mark his face? No doubt the person who'd done so was deceased if Lillian thought about it, but it was fascinating.
Louis was always thought to be invincible.
Those scars, even if they were hardly noticeable, they still existed and were a reminder of Louis's humanity.
Over his forehead, Lillian could make out what she thought to be another long swished scar. Against her more rational side, she suddenly began inching her way closer to see if she seeing right.
"Are you going to back away or will I have to scream for help?"
Lillian instantly tried to pull away in surprise, but when she did she found herself unable to.
