Chapter 41

How could she ignore Jeremy like that? As much as it wasn't wrong to miss Louis, it wasn't wrong to miss Jeremy either. She loved them. She could no longer care if that made her a slut; she needed to let her emotions out of the cage she had made.
"It's not like that, it's not easy for me, I've been -"she stopped her words and hid her face into the man's chest," O I've missed you Jeremy."
Jeremy's icy figure didn't melt right away but he held the girl head close," You have no idea how many nights I've dreamed of holding you so close once again."
"But why? Why weren't you? If you were alive... what happened?"She talked without getting out of his arms.

"It's long, pointless and complicated. Are you sure you want to hear now? You have had a rough time. Why don't we start with you." He got her face away from his chest to look into her eyes.
The royal shook her head," I want to hear all about you. I can tell you were through a lot worse than I may imagine." She caressed his cheek," Tell me."

Jeremy led he girl toward a sofa and they sat be each other's sides. The man took a deep breath and started telling her how his trusted men betrayed him on the Spain shores. They wanted his wealth and tried to kill him but he was lucky enough to survive however it didn't mean he was saved. He had been enslaved for work by the ones who had found his wounded body so he could pay for what they claimed they had paid for his treatments and of course his food and bed.

Somewhere around this part Jeremy leaned in and put his head on her lap like a five year old. And then he had continued with how he had no choice and no way out of that place. No one believed him when he said he was from the royal palace and that had only caused them to keep a much more careful eye on him. He had worked there for a year before he could convince the man he had paid three times more than enough.
It hadn't become better afterwards. In order to get to one of his noble family members who could help him, he had been forced to travel by pirate ships because he didn't have any identity paper or money. But he was proud to say he never stole anything.
That was really sad. She wanted to lean down, kiss him and tell him it's alright now but was it really the right thing to do?
Something deep down wasn't letting her to do so. Like a dark magic seal on her heart. But she used to love him so much she couldn't breathe without hurting for days when she was told he was gone. She couldn't let it all die like this. She fondled his hair some more trying to buy herself some time to think but Jeremy started," How about you?

He sat down with the eyes that expected more kindness from Lillian that he was given. He tucked her hair behind her ear with a bitter smile. But his eyes stopped on the fading marks on her neck. Were those, love bites?
Trailing his eyes Lillian figured what Jeremy just saw and she pulled back with shame. All the sleepless nights and the promises she gave him, to not love anyone else ever. And she wasn't planning to fall in love again.
Jeremy's eyes weren't readable. Just a dark shade of rage had darkened his green orbs.
The princess opened her mouth but Jeremy's hissing voice stopped her," Did-he-"
Lillian tried bend the point," Jeremy they are not bad people. They are-"
He got up from the sofa, "You are defending them? Why is that?" he was looking at her with wide eyes.
Princess looked down wondering how she can even begin with that.
"They were pirates, they kill people... What's wrong with you?"
"At first they all were stupid fuck ups but when I got to know them, they are just people. They didn't hurt me or anything; well Louis sorta did at first but to be honest..."
"Louis? Are you even listening to yourself Princess? Those are a bunch of criminal wanting nothing more than using you to hurt the crown, I lived with pirates for a whole year, and you lived with them for what? Two weeks? All those nice things they might have done were to keep you healthy for their own plans!"
"It's not like that Jeremy," Lillian was trying hopelessly," Why can't you just believe they were nice?!"
"I know you are only defending them so if we caught them you could save your friend Ellie, and I love your good heart but it is not gonna work. She is one of them now and your father had sworn he'll destroy them in a way no one can speak their name for centuries. "
Lillian panicked," What! We must stop him. They weren't bad people, they were just-"

"Do you have any certain feelings toward any of them?" Jeremy asked with a serious tone.
The royal tried," Jeremy I-"
"Am I nothing by a distanced memory for you? I wonder if you even did care in the first place." he pushed a nerves hand through his hair.
"What? I am just-"
"Have you forgotten all we have been through?" Jeremy raised his voice a little bit.
"I did miss you! I was in pain!" She almost screamed.
There was a long pause and Jeremy finally started with a broken voice, like a whisper," You don't love me anymore, do you?"
Lillian took a deep breath," Jeremy, you are the kindest, wisest gentleman I have ever known..." She had to say more but the words just weren't there. She felt so guilty.
Now that Jeremy was alive all her feelings toward Louis seemed like a big betrayal and yet as scary as it was her feelings toward Louis was too strong to let go of even for a second, Not that it helped the guilt. Suddenly she realized Jeremy was still looking at her waiting for her to say something.
"Jeremy look-"
"Its fine you don't have to say anything." He said with a cold tone and then he slammed the door and went out.
Damn Everything! Lillian pushed the chair and threw a pillow to the drawer which caused the bowl of water to fell down and shatter but that didn't calm her anger. She kicked the wall which hurt her ankle really bad.
She sat on the ground and took a deep breath, rubbing her foot.
When the door rushed open she assumed it would be Jeremy but it was that boy Ashton.
He knocked on the already open door," Is everything alright? I heard voices."
Lillian didn't bother to answer but the boy continued," I mean as your personal guard I have to be careful and alerted."
"Oh so you are my personal guard, Great!" She said sarcastically.
He laughed nervously," I guess we didn't have a good history."
"You mean after dragging me into this ship against my will, drugging me and cutting my hair? I guess right, we don't. "
"So let's start over. I am Ashton. Your loyal guard of 72 hours. If of course we count the time you were unconscious."
"If you're done talking, I'll appreciate if you just leave me alone now."
She said trying to get up. Ashton came forward to help but Lillian stood up before he could reach her.
"I said you can leave now."
Ashton pulled a hand through his hair," Yeah I guess I better go." His tone was like he might have thought the royal didn't want to be touched by a lowly person like him which wasn't Lillian's intension at all.
Lillian was pissed but she didn't intend to be mean to the poor boy," Wait. I'm sorry. You were just trying to help."
Ashton who never imagined to hear the word 'sorry' from a royal and much less toward to himself froze," Oh no you don't have to, your highness."
Lillian smiled," Now do you want to help me with something? I need boots. I can't take a second of these stupid shoes."
The boy narrowed his eyes," Boots? As in like men?"
"If you can," Lillian smiled shyly.
"Al-Alrigh. I'll see what I can do."
Lillian chuckled lowly at his confusion but when he left, all the darkness and thoughts came back to her.
She skipped breakfast and lunch, hoping that would get Jeremy's attention to come back to her. She didn't want to go out of the room alone. He was mad at her and somehow he was right. What would anyone else do when they saw someone they loved with their whole heart is now in love with other, and the person that once belonged to them now dream of someone else. What would Louis do?
She was sorry that all these happened but it wasn't like she wanted her destiny that way.
After a light dinner, she asked Rebecca to get the tray of food out. She insisted that she eat a bit more but her stomach felt like a stone.
The girl lay on the bed and started thinking of her memories on one direction. The sea was windy that night and the waves were moving the ship up and down. She remembered the time Niall and her got into trouble for slipping on the deck or the time Liam showed her how to knot ropes when it's windy.
With the sweet memories she closed her eyes but somewhere in the middle of the night a big lightening woke her up. She could hear running boots on the floor board but before she could get up the door slammed opened.
A dark figure walked in with a gun," There you are little slut!"
It was Louis! Lillian didn't know what to say. Louis did come to find her but he called her a slut. But why? Oh she hoped he hadn't killed anyone on this ship.
"Louis you-"
"Shut up you hypocrite, No one is allowed to touch you. You are my pet; didn't I pound that fact into the marrow of your bone?"
Ouch, that hurt.
"Louis I didn't do anything. I swear. I am in love with you. Just you."
But he smirked," Don't get me wrong, I just doesn't like others touching what I marked as mine. "
His eyes were blood shot and he had a deep frown on his face.
He leaned to get her and Lillian could only open her mouth to scream with fear. She felt his hand on her shoulder. He was the mad captain again. This was bad.
