They finally arrived at the street, it was a hot afternoon but the trees that lined the street made it cool. All the houses looked impossibly the same almost like they had a copy and paste effect.
"Remember, just keep driving until I say you can stop" Arianna instructed scanning the street.
"Got it" Travis hit the gas and zoomed through the street. They were almost into another estate when Arianna asked him to stop. He drove back to the house which looked identical to others if not for the daisies that grew in front. The got out of the car and strolled through the pouch to the front door. The scent of fresh cookies escaped the window. Arianna rang the bell. After minutes the intercom spoke "Who is it?" Came a soft voice almost like a child.
"We are from BM motors. We need a few minutes. We are carrying out a survey" Arianna thought she was saying a lot of we, but convinced herself it was alright
"Um Harry isn't home right now. He is at work."the voice responded, shooing them away
"We know that of course. It's a family survey to make sure everything was in good shape for our employees to give their all" Arianna explained. Which didn't make any sense
"Makes sense." The voice thought " Please give me a minute" soon after the door clicked open. At the door stood a petit blond. She had sharp doll eyes and a calm face as a result of her tiny lips.
"Please come in" Arianna nudged Travis and followed the blond lady in.
"Ahh" Travis sighed before they even had time to make themselves comfortable" if you don't mind, can we take this to a cafe nearby? I'm starving from doing this all day" the blond lady looked sympathetic at the he guy towering over her
"Oh I just baked some cookies would you like some?" Travis looked at Arianna to protest
"That would be lovely, thanks" was all she said. The location didn't matter really, Arianna thought and led Travis to some comfortable looking couches in the corner. Arianna looked over the desk where the blond laid her phone , the screen was still on, she had made a call recently, peering in the name fiancé flashed the screen. She had called him. It was going according to plan Arianna thought but she felt so uneasy in her gut like things were about to go wrong, extremely wrong.
Julianna was sitting behind her desk when she heard a knock at the door. The door soon pushed open so she didn't need reply. Harry strolled in and stood at her desk.
"I have something I need to tell you" he said. Julianna stopped her work and looked up.
"I have a fiancé I didn't tell you about. Arianna is at our place right now and I'm not sure what she plans to do. I decided to tell you first so I don't do anything hasty." Harry rumbled, fidgeting with his nails, Julianna sighed it was hard to tell if it was out of disappointment or exhaustion. She spoke into a telephone at her desk.
"Get me Jasper" she turned off the receiver and faced Harry " I don't appreciate you keeping things from me especially right now. But that will be handled later. For now, " a knock on the door distracted her and Jasper walked in.
"That was fast" she commented as Jasper stood beside Harry
"I was close by" Julianna wanted to comment but held back.
"We have a problem" Julianna continued addressing Jasper. Harry recounted everything to Jasper this time with less fidgeting.
"So what do you want us to do?" Jasper asked.
"What to do indeed. It's either I go there or I don't" Julianna said releasing herself from behind her desks and pacing the room.
"It could be a trap to go there" Harry chipped
"It could also be a trap to not" Jasper countered
"As long as we don't know what she is thinking we need to tread lightly" Julianna said
"What's your call?" Jasper urged
"Well if my son has a fiancé it's only right to meet her" Julianna took her suit jacket from the hanger "We go, all of us"
Arianna was just on her second cookie when a car pulled up in the driveway. Harry was here she thought. She counted seconds till she heard the door bell.
"Oh that's fast" the blond said "I hope you don't mind my husband has been weary of unexpected visitors and asked me to always call anytime I had one" she explained. Arianna thought this explanation would have been worth more before she stepped foot into the house. Arianna scanned the room as the blond went to get the door. She wasn't sure what she was looking for.
Multiple footsteps filled into the house. Arianna grabbed Travis by the wrist and yanked him towards a corner of the room close to a low window where they could jump if needs be.
"Oh don't be so alarmed. It's only a friendly visit" Julianna strolled into the room, Jasper close behind her. Harry came in last the petit blond in his arms looking anxious. Arianna's head was spinning although she had thought of this scenario but it was the last thing she thought would actually play out. Julianna wasn't taking any chances.
"This is bad" Travis whispered in her ears. Arianna knew this of course. It was worst case scenario.
"Oh it's just you guys. For a minute I thought she was being robbed" Arianna said with a laugh. Travis didn't catch the joke
"Sorry to barge in on whatever was going on but I've been meaning to visit and this seemed to be a good time"
Arianna was at a loss of what to say and needed time to think. Luckily the blond provided the best opportunity.
"I'm sorry, I had no idea you would be coming. Please make yourself comfortable" she ushered Julianna to a seat. Julianna wanted nothing else but to continue her confrontation but couldn't protest.
"Well since you have such important guests, we will take our leave for now. We will be back at a later date" Travis surprisingly spoke up. The blond looked appreciative at the consideration and showed them to the door. Arianna didn't object and followed Travis out the door. She could feel Harry's gaze on her back but didn't return it. Jasper met them before they got into the car.
"You guys should stop this. At this point it just looks pathetic. Julianna is too powerful for you two to handle" Jasper scolded.
"Not too powerful since she resorted to you giving us pep talk" Julianna backfired
"Julianna didn't send me here" he said between his teeth.
"You should run along now so she doesn't find out" Travis retorted reading Arianna's mind.
"I've done my best to help you as a friend. No, as a brother whatever happens now it's your fault" jasper spat storming back to the house. Travis made to stop him and continue the batter but Arianna stopped him.
"We should leave. We don't have much time" Travis got into the driver seat and let out his rage in a deep breath.
"That was a disaster" he lamented.
"If you have time to lament then you can hit the gas" Arianna said snapping her seatbelt.
"What? Where to?" Travis asked starting the car.
"We are splitting up. Drop me at the bus station while you head straight to BM motors. Search Julianna's office for anything regarding your grandfather or the will. I'll head to the house and see what I can find" Travis had several questions but knew this wasn't the time. He dropped Arianna at the bus stop and zoomed straight to BM motors without even a backward glance. He didn't have the slightest clue on how he would get past security and into Julianna's office but for some reason all he felt was excitement. This was happening he was rebelling against his mother, he was taking what was his. It's all so exciting he thought.
