"WAKE UP!" I hear my dad screaming down the hallway of our small house. I pull the covers over my head and wiggle back down in my soft, warm sheets.
"GRACE YOU'RE THIRTY MINUTES LATE!!" I hear my father scream again.
I quickly open my eyes and roll over to look at my clock. "Shit." I say to myself. He is right, I'm about thirty minutes late.
I roll out of bed and run around my room trying to find a shirt and pair of pants but I'm way overdue on my laundry. After about five minutes of searching I decide on a plain gray hoodie and a pair of light blue jeans.
I run down the hallway and look to my left to see my dad smoldering mad. I give him a quick "I'm sorry I like sleeping in" smile and run out the door to catch the bus. After locking the door I realize I forgot my book bag and start freaking out.
"Dad! I forgot my book bag! Hurry up and unlock the door!!" I start yelling
He unlocks the door. As I start to run back down the hallway and into my room I hear my father.
"There goes the yellow contraption you should be on. God Grace you can't keep doing this." I hear him say.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" I say and grab my book bag. I walk back down the hallway for what seems like the tenth time this morning and wait for the lecture that's about to go down. My dad grabs his keys and opens the door waiting for me to lead the way to his car.
We get in the car and as I'm buckling my seatbelt my dad turns to me. Here's that lecture I was waiting for.
"Grace what the hell. This happens every morning. I've got shit to do. You're a junior in high school now. Don't you think it's time to grow up? How are you going to get a job and work in the mornings when you can't even get up at the right time for school?" He yells, continuously throwing his hands up in the air and jerking his head back and forth.
"I get it, I'm sorry. I'll grow up. Tomorrow I'll get up on time I promise dad." I say just like all the other times.
"Yeah that's what you always say, but when are you actually going to do it?" He says starting the car and pulling out of the parking lot.
Yeah, this will be one hell of a ride.
