✖️ Martin's POV ✖️
Tourists roamed the beaches, sidewalks, and streets as they tired to found their way home or to their hotels after the electric DJ set last night at Ibiza. Clouds hung low in the sky as they threatened to bring rain and wind into the calm and gentle area of the lakeside town.
I watched as her chest slowly rose and fell in rhythm of my finger tapping on the railing of the balcony. She slept on the bed with her light brown hair laid out around her head and neck like it was rays of light radiating from her. Blood stained her cheek and her forearm from the struggle with me last night in our little fight.
I never get to see Rainn like this, so peaceful. This is the side of her I wished she would show more, wished that she would let me see. She was calm and it seemed as if she was in a place that was quiet and serene, it was simply breathtaking to watch her be in such a peaceful state.
Blood still coated the pads of my fingers as I released my grip on the railing and made my way from outside to inside, where I could get a better view of Rainn. Sitting on the edge of the bed, I scanned my eyes over every inch of her body that was exposed to me. Smooth and clean, untouched by any man, tanned from the intense heat at the summertime festivals.
Dreams of me kissing her, touching her, and holding her in my arms always crossed my mind at night when I thought of her or even spoke her name aloud. Rainn was all I ever wanted, she is all that I need. When I first saw her I didn't think it would come to this, me loving her and wishing to be more than what we've become.
Urges for me to kiss Rainn fought inside me as I tried to restrain myself from scaring or frightening her from her slumber. Turning away from her sleeping form, I looked to her phone on the dresser that was lit up with notifications about missing half a dozen calls.
It was Julian, a good friend of mine and Rainn's as well. He had also texted her late last night and early this morning, wondering if she was coming home to Amsterdam soon. The thought of why Julian would be wondering when she would return home had crossed my mind.
Sure, maybe he would like to meet up with her and chat, but wouldn't he be asking me as well when I would be back and not just questioning her alone about it. Julian has always been close to Rainn and me, but lately I have felt like he has been taking her away from me.
"Martin?" I heard Rainn moan out from the bed across the room. She sat up on her elbows and squinted from the rays of sunlight that entered through the windows beside the bed.
"'Morning." I said trying to contain my bubbling anger towards Julian and some for Rainn. Setting the phone down carefully, I turned around to face her fully.
Rainn moved to the edge of the bed to let her legs hang over and for her toes to skim the top of the ruff carpet while rubbing the sleep from her tired eyes. She brushed loose hair behind her ear and over her shoulder to fully stretch out her body.
"Do you see my phone over there at all?" She asked as she pulled the bottom of her shirt down over her exposed stomach. Taking the device in hand, I walked over to Rainn and gave it to her as she smiled up at me, though it seemed a little strained.
I watched Rainn as she unlocked her phone and texted Julian back and check all of her social media sites. Walking away from her, I stood at the threshold of the balcony and watched the waves caress the beach as people waded in the shallow.
Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a piece of cloth laying on the floor between the bed and the wall, a crumpled bandana. I know it belongs to Rainn because I have seen her wear multiple times. One memory of her giving it to me at Ultra before moving into the crowd had flashed in my mind.
Moving from the doorway, I stood above the cloth and looked at it in front of my feet. She never asked for it back so I didn't return it to her, I wasn't planning on it either. That bandana is probably the only thing that I have to remember Rainn by, besides the memories of our time together.
"Martin, hey," I heard Rainn trying to grab my attention as she got up from the end of the bed and stood behind me. "Ben and Jared want to meet with us down by the beach."
Turning around, I stared into her eyes and watched as she typed away at the keypad on her phone, replying to our mangers text message. Rainn's eyes are like diamonds that are dancing in the suns rays caught through a kaleidoscope, I get constantly lost in them every time I look into them.
"Rainn," I said grabbing her arm. She tensed up and stared up at me with fear as the phone dropped out of her hands. She was scared. I've never seen her like this, so frightened by something or someone. "I-I... hope it's about something good, am I right?"
Continuing to try and play it off, I gave a big grin and let go of her arm as I picked up Rainn's phone and handed it back. I couldn't say it to her, I'll never say I love her when she has something so deep in her that made her look at me with such fear.
