They had been here a week and everyday they would ask about Bones and me. It wasn't how I'd want to spend my evenings, answering questions, but I have to admit it, it was fun. Then one day I didn't get bombarded with questions but only to go to retrive Lucy and tell Ashley why we were going.

I was in my Medical class when another Commander came to give me a note.

"Miss Carino I have a note from the St Luke's Atlanta Hospital. The nurses think that your grandmother doesn't have long left and they made a promise to her that you would know. If you can collect Lucy from looking at the Xinolinguistics department and you are allowed to go back to Atlanta for as long as you need to"

"Thank you Miss" I walked quite quickly to Xinolinguistics to find Lucy not looking where I was going and walked into someone quite hard "Oh sorry got to get to Xinolinguistics"

"Jessica!" This was a familiar male voice, southern aswell. I looked up to see Bones

"Bones oh sorry. Still got to get to Xinolinguistics"

"I'll walk with you. I wanted to see you anyway" We started to walk "Why are you going to Xinolinguistcs?"

"I have to get Lucy" My eyes had started to water and a tear went down my cheek

"What's wrong Jessica?"

"Nothing I have to go back to my house"

"Which is where exactly?"

"Atlanta I live next to a farm" He stopped and stared at me before I stopped and turned to him

"Atlanta? Next to a farm?" I nodded before he walked ahead stopping to get me to hurry up. We walked through the doors and I ran up to Lucy "Come on we have to go home now"

"Why?"

"Because grandma is very ill and wants to see us" Bones had figured out what was happening. I asked him to tell Ashley why we're back at Atlanta and for her to come as soon as possible. And he agreed.

The train took forever, well 3 days and 4 hours. It felt like it took forever sat next to someone who still goes "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" even at 14 she still does it.

"Why are we really going to Atlanta Jess?" She had got bored

"Because grandma wants to see us"

"Why?" I had given up

"Grandma is not going to be in Atlanta for a long time and we have to see her"

"She's doing to be dead?" I nodded and cradled her crying body

When we got there we went back to the house and slept until the morning. I walked into Lucy's room. I saw her as a small child again snuggled up in her toys, all her posters looking down on her. I gave her an extra blanket which I was on my first day in the Medical Bay. I held her hand and gently woke her.

We got a taxi to the hospital where we found our grandma awake and smiling at our entrance. Even though we were 20 and 14 we still ran up to her like we were 10 and 4 again. We hugged her, she was colder and more fragile than we had ever seen her before. "Jessica...Lucy how are my favorite little girls?"

"We're fine grandma and I'm not a little girl anymore I'm 20"

"But inside you're still the girl who ran around the house screaming for cookies and custard all day. And don't tell me you've grown out of Sunday morning pancakes with banana and apple faces" Lucy shook her head "Good good. Now tell me what has happened at the academy"
