Chapter 12
Quarks
Does God exist? Have you seen him? How do people believe in something so infinite? I get these questions asked more often then not, by Atheist and non believers. I could slap them really hard around the face and ask him if it hurts and if so, show me the pain, but it doesn’t go down well with most people. I think to myself, how does this person live his life and not realise that each rustle made by even a single leaf on a tree is by Gods will. So is your life, something’s never make sense whether you want it to or not, everything does happen for a reason and to understand that you don’t need to have a degree in philosophy or an IQ of 170 . What you do need is patience.
The Atomic theory. Over the decades scientists have discovered that the smallest part to a substance is molecules, and then they said, “no, no, no, it’s an atom”. As expected they corrected themselves and discovered electrons. Surely it can’t get smaller then this. can it? Shockingly, it does, broken down to protons and then neutron and now there are hadrons, baryons and mesons leptons and a few more other names which sound like aliens from the planet Zygon. But the fundamental particle which creates everything as we know it, are quarks. Quarks are described as packets of energy which randomly pop up and disappear with no trace
So let’s start with the Universe and break it down to quarks. So we have the universe > galaxies > solar-system > planets > earth > land > rocks > particles > molecules > atoms > electron, neutrons, protons > hadrons > baryons > mesons > anti-quarks and finally quarks which are flexes of energy randomly coming in and out of existence, infinitely. This randomness goes on and on within each particle of each matter imaginable. They don’t really exist these quarks, as any physicist would tell you, you can’t isolate them, but they are there, they can prove it.
Everything in this world can be broken down into something smaller, and no doubt quarks will one day be broken down into something smaller, infinitely these discoveries will continue to amaze us. So in effect, everything is infinite, a chair can be broken down to quarks, which don’t exist, but you can see it, feel it, and that’s why your belief in its existence is so strong. In actual fact and as scientists have explained, it doesn’t really, in theory, nothing exists.
It’s just a thought, of course that chair you are sat on exists, but don’t forget how you can break it down to smaller and smaller particles to look for the root of its existence, till you get to the smallest known bit, and then…it simply disappears. How can one be so obtuse, and not believe in an infinite creator, if infinity itself exists.
