I thought I was finally over Tye, but I wasn't. Being away from Bailey and being with Tye again made my heart go crazy. Things didn't die down with Azalea when I thought they might have. Halloween was coming up, my favourite time of year, but mum wouldn't let me throw a party, so I planned to be sitting alone watching horror movies by myself, or hopefully, with Tye. It was the third week of school, and our class was in a computer lab, we had a sub teacher so no one was doing what they were supposed to. Two classes had joined for this period, mine, and Tye's. I sat in the corner just talking to Kaili but couldn't help my eyes continuously glance to the other side of the room where Tye and Azalea were. She was hanging off of him, she literally looked like a leach, like a sloth that was hanging off of a tree branch.
"Kaili" I said softly. "Mmmm?" She replied. "I like him." "Who?" She questioned as she sat up immediately. "Not Tye." "Yes Tye." I said. "I knew it!" "I just, I don't know there's something about him." I said while looking at him. "Well good luck getting him over Azalea." "Thanks." I said back sarcastically. I looked back down at my work, thinking to myself, ' how on earth am I supposed to do this'. I was staring at it for about ten minutes before Tye popped up at my shoulder.
"Hey." He said to me. "Hi." I said, as I stood up to hug him. "Oh Tye, before I forget. On Halloween, do you want to come over and have a horror movie night with me?" "I can't Skylar, I'm really sorry; I'm going to a party." He said, apologetically. "Oh." I replied let down. "How about you come to the party with me?" He suggested. "Where is it?" "In town." "Well I guess, maybe, yeah." I said. A few of the boys from his class came over to us and started messing around with him, within seconds he was hyped up. He was running around the desks with his mates and ran past me knocking my knee. "Ow." I let out. "I'm sorry." He said as he automatically ran over to pat my knee better. He started talking really fast, there was no possible way I could understand him, and before I knew it, he had once again, picked me up and threw me over his right shoulder. I let out a scream and silence filled the room. Every eye was on Tye and I. The teacher gave a fake cough and Tye put me down gently. Azaleas eyes were fixed on me, squinted. When she broke the eye contract, she gave her eyes a roll and turned her head back to her work. "That was fun." Tye exclaimed. "Perhaps for you, you hit my knee." "I know I said sorry." "Yeah, I know its okay. You might want to go talk to Azalea, she was death starring me before, and you know she doesn't like it when you talk to me." "Skylar, how many times have I got to say this? I don't care. I'll do what I want." "Sorry." I said back quietly. "Do you want me to leave you?" He asked. "No." I said back. "Good, don't worry about her then."
I left that class with a smile on my face. 'I'm going to a party with Tye.' I thought to myself. Halloween wasn't far away, and I had no idea what I was even going to wear. When I got home that afternoon I announced to my mother that I will be attending the party. At first, my mother didn't like the idea, and Ellie whinged saying she wanted to go to a party, but obviously, a teenagers party wasn't fit for a child, then she whinged saying that she wanted to go out trick or treating, but mum had to go out on the night of Halloween and wouldn't let Ellie go out without me because it was way too dangerous. So after three days of constant nagging, mum finally agreed to let me to go to this party. So now it was time to finally decide on a costume. I love costumes, but none of the ones I had were fit for this event. I had an Alice in Wonderland Costume, Super Woman Costume, Little Nicki (Rocky horror picture show) costume (although that could possibly work) a Belle costume and a nurse costume. After dinner, I went up to my bedroom and rang Tye. It took three calls before he finally answered. Apparently his phone was charging and on silent. "I need to decide on a costume." I said to him. "What do you want to go as?" He asked. "I don't know." "Vampire?" He suggested. "No." "Devil." "No." "Witch." "No." "Ghost." "No." "Bat." "No." "Well I don't fucking know." He said getting irritated. "Go as a fucking transformer then." "Don't get angry at me." I said back. "You're saying no to everything I suggest. I don't know." "Okay, okay. What are you going as?" I asked. "I dunno, probably just a serial killer." "You should go as the Big Bad Wolf, and I can go as Little Red Riding Hood." "Yeah nah yeah nah yeah, yeah nah yeah nah." "Why not?" I asked. "That's gay as fuck." "Please Tye." I begged. "No." "Please." "No." "Fine, I'll just go as Red Riding Hood." "You, do that." He said back. "Are you on Facebook?" I asked. "Yeah. Why?" He asked. "I'm going to send you some links of costumes."
I went online, and there were a range of different costumes, I sent four different ones to Tye. "Which one?" I asked. It took him a while to make a decision and finally he decided on one. It had a medium sized coat that had an attached hood, a dark brown belt that was attached to the dress, that had white puffy arms, and a cute little apron. I added that to my basket and searched up socks. "Fishnets or socks?" I asked him. "What?" He asked back confused. "For the dress, stockings with holes or white socks with bows?" "Whatever you want." "I don't know what I want, that's why I'm asking you." "Socks." "Mmm. Are you sure?" "Stockings then." "But you said socks." "Then go socks." "I don't know Tye." I said frustrated. "Mum!" I called out. She came running into my room. "What's wrong?" She asked worried. "Socks or stockings?" I asked. "Huh, for what?" She said back. "See, she doesn't even know." Tye said through the phone. "Oh hello Tye, how are you?" She said to him. "Hey mumsie. I'm good, how are you?" He asked. "Guys, costumes." I interrupted. "Socks." Mum said. "Okay, thanks." I said before dismissing her. "See, I told you socks." He said. I added a pair of thigh high socks to the basket and went and bought a straw basket with a red cloth on top of it to complete the outfit. All up it was one hundred and ten dollars. I got my card details and put them in a purchased them. "Well there's no backing out now. How long until Halloween?" I asked. "About a week." Tye replied. "Sweet!" I said excited. "You know, you've put so much more effort into your costume than I have." "I'm sure you'll look fine, Tye." We spoke until he fell asleep on the phone to me. Just talking about nothing with him filled my stomach with the most amazing butterflies I have ever felt, yet they were also sickening.
It was two days before Halloween, and I was telling Kaili all about the party on the weekend. "I wish I could go." She said to me. "Ask Tye." I suggested. "Yeah no." I'll just get drunk with mum." "You have fun with that." We walked down town together and went into the reject shop. The majority of the Halloween stock was sold out. I went up to the front counter and asked if they had any fake blood left and to my excitement they had two tubes left in with I purchased. As we left I was thinking about how Saturday night would go down. I was hoping my anxiety wasn't going to play up on me again. I don't usually like being in large crowds because of my anxiety and the fact I'm socially awkward, but I wanted to try and overcome this. When I got home, a parcel was sitting on my bed. Finally my costume arrived. I rang Tye and told him before asking if I could stay the night with him on Friday so we could get ready and go to the party together. To my delight he agreed, this was going to be the first time I had ever slept at his house, and I was excited. Our phone call didn't last long as he had to go to dinner as did I.
I walked down to the kitchen, mum was cooking stir fry. I went into the lounge room and wrapped my arms around Ellie. "I loveeee you." I said, squeezing her. "Get off of me Skylar!" She yelled. "But I love you." "I don't love you." She said back pushing me off of her. "Girls." Mum called from the kitchen. "Enough." "I just wanted to show her my love." I exclaimed. "Yes well, you pissed her off. Anyway, dinner is ready." We headed to the kitchen at sat down to a bowl of stir fry and rice. "So why are you so happy?" Mum asked me. "The party is Saturday, and Tye said I could sleep over tomorrow." I said. Mum coughed on her food. "Excuse you? You didn't ask me." "Oh. Mum, can I please stay at Tye's tomorrow night so I can go to the party Saturday?" "No." She said. "Why not?" I asked aggravated. "He's eighteen." "And I'm seventeen. Besides, you've let him stay here, and on the holidays in a motel. His dad will be there, and mum." "No Skylar." "Then how am I supposed to get to this party? I didn't spend one hundred dollars on a costume that I can't wear." "Why do you two always argue at dinner?" Ellie lets out. "Shut up." I yelled at her. "And a minute ago you were telling her you loved her." Mum said. I had had enough, so I quickly finished my dinner before storming off to my room.
When I reached my bedroom, I started packing my bags to go to Tyes, honestly I was going whether she wanted me to or not, I have a car, and I had no other way to the party. I was lying in bed that night half asleep and half on my phone when my mother walked in. "Skylar, can I talk to you?" She asked. "Mmmm." I moaned. "I'm sorry about earlier." "Why?" I asked. "For dinner, and how I said you couldn't go to Tyes place. I've just had a bad day, and I've been missing your father and a part of me feels as though if I let you go, I'm going to end up losing you to." I was shocked by what my mother had just told me, but, I too missed him. "I won't leave mum. Eventually I will have to move out, but I won't leave, besides, you still have Ellie." I said sympathetically. "You can go tomorrow, Skylar. Just be careful, please. Teenage parties can easily get out of hand." "I'll be with Tye." "I don't want him getting hurt either." "He won't, mum." We spoke for a little bit before I started falling asleep again.
