Patient 2237- Session 2

Dr Mendoza

Video Transcript.

------------------

It's the same therapy room as before, with Patient 2237 sat on the hard chair with her arms resting on the metal table. The camera seems to be a little more central this time, which is good. Last session it was squint and that reaaaally annoyed us.

Dr Mendoza: Good morning. How are you feeling today?

Patient 2237: You know. . I wish they'd give me a clock or a. .window or something.

Dr Mendoza: Do you?

Patient 2237: No I just said it to be funny.

Dr Mendoza: I'm sorry, it was a stupid question.

Patient 2237: She sighs dramatically. There has never been a. . .non-stupid question come out of your mouth. . Mendy.

Dr Mendoza: I would appreciate it if you didn't call me that. Let's keep this formal.

Patient 2237: You are very. . she waves her hands around as she searches for the right word. . stiff.

Dr Mendoza: Let's get back on topic. You said you wanted a clock?

Patient 2237: I like knowing the time.

Dr Mendoza: Why?

Patient 2237 gives Dr Mendoza a look.

Dr Mendoza: I apologize.

Patient 2237: Time is. . important. You can guess what people are doing. Like, this morning you. . .shaved and. . combed your hair and put on that. . .(her tongue flicks out) lovely white coat. She smiles, predator-like. I like your white coat. Makes you look. . .professional.

Dr Mendoza: Thank you. Is that the only reason you like to know the time, to imagine what others are doing?

Patient 2237: Different times have different. . .meanings. .for me. I'll tell you what. . Okay. Once upon a time there was a man. I picked him for my next. . . target. He had a wife, a. . beautiful wife. I called by his house. Tied them both up, her on a chair and him just on the ground. I put a bomb. . under her chair. Set it to go off at midday, in three hours.

I made sure the man knew. . understood. . all of this. He was trying to scream so I broke his wife's finger and told him to be quiet.

Patient 2237 stops and looks intently at the doctor.

Patient 2237: You know, when you threaten to hurt someone else instead of the person you're. . threatening, it's so much more. . .effective.

I took the. . man to a hotel room I'd rented and set him up by the window. He had a. . . beautiful. . . view of the residental area of Krankzinnig, including his own little red-brick house. I put a big clock beside him and. . . watched.

At first he carried on trying to scream. You know what people get like when their loves are in danger. She pauses. I know. I know. . very well. Then. . .he stopped, started pleading instead. As the first hour ticked by he never stopped making noise.

Patient 2237 stretches out her arms above her head.

He wasn't very entertaining, not yet. But, when it got to half eleven he was crying, screaming, pleading all at the same time. The. . .emotions. . going through him were. . .delicious.
