Closer... But Farther

*****TRIGGER WARNING*****

I'm closer, as I grab a pen

I'm closer, as I grab the paper

I'm closer, as I write out my letter

I'm closer, as I glance at the clock

I'm closer, just one hour left

I'm closer, as I grab the knife

I'm closer, as I lock myself in

I'm closer, as I grab a bottle of pills

I'm closer, as I down them all in one swig

I'm closer, as I fill up the bath

I'm closer, as slip my clothes off

I'm closer, as I step into the warm water

I'm closer, as I shut it off

I'm closer, as there are no more distractions

I'm closer, as I put the knife towards my skin

I'm closer, as I slice it in deep

I'm closer, as I feel death knocking at my door

I'm closer, but then farther...

I'm farther, as I'm pulled out of my watery death

I'm farther, as the knife is pulled out of my deadly grip

I'm farther, as I feel a cloth wrapped around my body

I'm farther, as someone latches onto me

I'm farther, as I hear sirens in the distance

I'm farther, as I feel tears against my cheek

I'm farther, as a cloth is press against my bloody skin

I'm farther, as I feel myself lifted once again

I'm farther, as I hear the noises getting louder

I'm farther, as I hear people shouting

I'm farther, as people begin wrapping up my wounds

I'm farther, as I feel a weight on my pill filled stomach

I'm farther, as I'm rushed into a foreign room

I'm farther, as I hear people sob out my name

I'm farther, as a tube is shoved down my throat

I'm farther, as machines spring to life

I'm farther, as people speak to me

I'm farther, so I don't answer

I'm farther, as I feel my stomach being pumped

I'm farther, as I feel stitches bite into my skin

I'm farther, as I become tired

I'm farther, as I wake in the morning

I'm farther, as the pain is even more real now

I'm farther, as the pain is now physical too

I'm farther from death

I'm closer to being alive

I'm farther from happiness

I'm closer to sadness

I'm closer, yet farther...

I'm so far from knowing what to do

I'm so close to being gone

I'm closer to my next death date

I'm farther from my last one
