"Everything is already in your name, Y/n. Bank accounts, the house, the safe house and all." I blink, "Safe house?"
"Yes, we own a safe house on a beach, quite frankly in the middle of nowhere on an island. But your dad left you a note in his will," Papa slides over a folder my way, a listing of everything now in my name. I read the note, "How do I need to go about that?"
"About what?" Harry presses. "I can contact Arthur, surely he can assist us," Papa tells me. Even though Mr. Weasley isn't over these sorts of affairs, he would be most likely to give us a hand. Although, splitting things with Harry may cause trouble as Harry was his Godson.
"Tell you later, love." I say to Harry, allowing papa the room to speak. "Y/n, we would have told you about the baby as soon as you got home, but now I just- I'm not sure what to do."
I understand why he did, and how he did. They already signed the form, but now Papa was panicking. He has a hard enough time raising me, and now he'd have to do it again, but this time would be different.
"You're not totally alone, I can help and I'm sure Mrs. Weasley would lend a hand when she could. Tonks as well, papa." I comfort him, hoping I'm helping. "Besides, the woman is only a few weeks along, yeah?"
"About twelve weeks, she's been mailing often updates on the baby. Here's the dilemma, the reason I can't go back now is because, we didn't do it in a traditional way." I stare at him confused but let him continue.
"There's a new thing in the muggle world, called surrogacy. We signed up to be on the trial, no expectations on our part. Well, it worked. It's the last part of your father I may have, besides you of course."
Well, that makes me feel mighty brilliant.
Almost as if he didn't have me for the last sixteen years of my life, but I don't point that out. Papa goes deeper into explaining how it works, saying that biologically the baby is really only dads, but that it makes no difference to him. And apparently, they- he already knows it's a boy.
"And uh- one other thing. About your mum," at his words a growl erupts from my lips, and I cover my face in embarrassment. "Sorry," I mutter, and papa gives me a gentle smile before going on.
"She's on our side. She always has been, but if we had told you that, you would have trusted her far too much. We just couldn't have that with Voldemort on the rise," He explains and my brows furrow. "So, you kept it a secret from me?" I feel my anger rise, despite me trying to douse it.
"I didn't like it, and I'm sorry but Ese herself wanted it. She didn't want you in harm's way, it's why she did what she did to begin with." He lets out a shaky breath and I try to contain myself, "What else?"
"What-"
"There's something you're not telling me, come on, out with it." I glare at him, and he sighs. Hearing a noise from my left, when no one else should be here, I withdraw my wand.
"The hell are you here for?" I ask, and Harry stands, his own hand griping his wand. Merlin, I love that he doesn't even ask anymore. He just goes with it, never questioning me. Esmerelda turns the corner, "I told you she'd be peeved, Remus."
"Should have listened, I suppose." Papa agrees with Esmerelda, and that's when he tells me that she is to stay here with us. At first, I am absolutely against it. However, it's Harry that talks me into it.
"She did let you go once the Order arrived." I scoff at his words, knowing he's right. She even rescued us last summer and told me that dad was on the way a few weeks ago. In small ways she has proved she's at least a little on your side.
