"These uniforms truly are unflattering," I say tugging against the bit of the sweater that rubs at my neck. "Sorry love, but game day rules. You gotta wear the sweater," I groan at Harry's words.
Today's our first game of the season, and despite me being nervous, at least I'm not near as sick about it as Ron is.
"How was it?" Ron asks us and we blink at him, confused. "The dinner party?"
"Ohhh," the three of us say in unison. "Pretty boring actually. But Slughorn is having a Christmas do, you know. We're meant to bring someone," she says flipping her page in the newspaper. "I expect you'll be bringing McLaggen. He's in the Slug Club, isn't he?" Ron says, with a hint of sarcasm.
"Actually, I was going to ask you," she shakes her head, looking back down at her paper. "Well, I already know who I'm bringing," Harry states. I glance over at him, "There's one correct answer, let's see if he can get it."
"Madam Pomfrey of course, think she'd say yes?" He smirks, and I laugh, "Sure she will, perhaps to save your ego." Lavender approaches our table, and we fall silent. "Good luck today, Ron. I know you'll be brilliant."
I look at Hermione and grimace, and she nods in agreement. Our roommate could not be any less annoying. "I'm resigning. After today's match McLaggen can have my spot," Ron states with anxiety lacing his voice.
"Have it your way," Harry shrugs, reaching over for some juice. "Want some?" Ron nods, and Harry fills his goblet with orange juice. Luna sits down next to me, "Hello everyone."
"You look dreadful Ron, is that why you put something in his cup?" She looks over at Harry, and I snap my gaze his direction. "You didn't." Of course he didn't, because I still have it in a lock box in my side drawer.
I catch sight of an empty vial as Harry slips it back into his pocket. "Liquid luck... Harry you- don't drink it Ron," Her words fell on deaf ears as he drains the goblet dry. "You could be expelled for that," Hermione glares at Harry.
"I dunno what you're talking about," He smirks at me with his famous grin. "I cannot believe this is happening," She shakes her head n I chuckle, "Believe it now. We've got a game to play," I say taking a last bit of my toast.
This game has been a breeze. Ron is nailing it in his position, and hardly any scarring injuries have taken place. As I drop my shoulder back, striking the bludger back to where it came from. A bead of sweat drips down my face as I rebalance myself on my broom.
My shoulder twinges.
I swing again as a bludger comes nearby Ron, and it takes out Blaise, giving Ginny the chance to take the quaffle back. He gives me a thumbs up, and I nod returning back to my position. Above my head I see Harry with his goggles on searching for the snitch.
A whistle sounds through the stadium, with booing Slytherins and cheering Gryffindor's sounding out.
No way we won our first game, and probably hardest game of the season. After the game Harry calls a meeting in the locker room. "You all did amazing out there! Heard some things going about of a party, so let's get cleaned up and go celebrate."
After changing into comfortable clothing, Harry wraps an arm around me as we walk back to the castle. "You did wonderful, darling." He presses a kiss to my temple and I chuckle, "Kissing on me even though I'm rather gross?"
He smirks and kisses me again, "Wouldn't care if you're beaten and bloody."
I laugh softly and lean into his touch, "Too bad you couldn't catch the snitch today."
He shrugs, "Ron needed a win, especially today."
The moment after freshening up and I step downstairs, I see Ron being lifted into the air as his name is chanted. Gryffindor pride at one of its highest. "He shouldn't have done it," Mione says to me, and I grin at her, "Confundus charm perhaps?"
