Needless to say, Dumbledore wasn't found that night, but also that Dolores Umbridge is now the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Meaning, shit just splattered against the fan as Hermione has taught me to say.
Umbridge has added many new decrees on top of her old ones, such as boys and girls aren't to exceed more than eight inches from one another. Another being all uniforms must be in prim condition; otherwise, it is straight to detention.
Everyone participating in Dumbledore's Army has been given a week's worth of detection, meaning lines for everyone, except for Cho that is. Who still hasn't explained as to why she did what she did. Lucky for her Madam Pomfrey was able to reverse the charm; it took some time though.
Nearing the end of our detention session for today, I stare down at the newest lines on my hand.
I must not break rules.
I try ignoring the winces of Dennis and Collins as their quills writing digs into their skin, carving into the tissue. Once dismissed for today, I hand out small containers of the salve I've come up for Harry and me. Each student thanking me silently.
"Is this what you've been making a lot, Y/n?" Hermione asks and I nod, "I try to keep a good amount on hand, especially for Harry's scar." She gently rubs some of it on her skin, and smiles softly, "Thank you."
"Y/n, no one else will speak to me, please?" I look at Cho with pity in my eyes and place an extra container for the scars on her skin, "Just give it time Cho. I don't wish to now, but I will one day, yeah?"
She looks down at the salve before looking at me, giving me a sad smile before saying, "Yes. Thank you," I mutter your welcome before continuing on with my friends. Changing into regular clothes since it's the weekend, the four of us venture outside the castle.
"You did everything you could, no one could win against that old hag." Ron states, trying to sooth the tension in Harry's face. I despite everyone being punished, when it should only be me and Harry, but they agreed to the risks.
We all knew what could happen. At least, that's what I tell myself to make me feel better. Maybe it is our fault, maybe if we had just left things alone.
"Even Dumbledore didn't see this coming," Hermione agrees. "Harry, if it's anyone's fault, it's ours"
"Yeah, we talked you both into it." Ron reminds the two of us, "Harry, it's not as if they didn't sign up knowing the risks." I mutter, standing next to him. "We tried our best, and maybe they learned something from it."
"But all it's done is make things worse," he faces away from us, the breeze catching his hair. "Besides, I don't want to play these games anymore. All it does is make you care too much, and the more you care the more you have to lose."
I put my hand on the railing, and his hand falls over mine.
"And I've already got too much to lose."
My heart tugs at his words, before he turns back to the others.
"What are you on about?" Hermione ponders and Ron stands, crossing his arms. "Maybe it's better to go it alone," Harry admits. But before I could ask what he meant, I hear footsteps behind us.
"What is it?" Harry questions me and I point, just as Hagrid appears with a whistle. "Wow, you heard him before he-" Ron says with amusement, as we walk over towards him.
"Oh yea, um about that- I may have put together a few things on why." I say, somewhat nervous on what my friends and boyfriend will think. Hagrid leads us into the woods, not telling us anything on where we are going.
