[Same Day – Afternoon at the Junior Camp]

The sun dipped lazily above the tree line as the mountain breeze rustled through the forest. The scent of damp soil, pine needles, and excitement filled the air.

All the juniors stood in two neat lines outside the wooden briefing cabin, their eyes flickering with curiosity. A few whispered guesses about what the next camp activity might be. Some bounced on their toes from the cold, others from the buzz of adrenaline.

At the front, two distinct teachers stood like opposite ends of a comedy show.

Ms. Julie — elegant, intelligent, and effortlessly graceful — adjusted her pastel scarf with a gentle smile. Her hair was tied in a neat ponytail, and her clipboard was perfectly aligned with the printouts she held. She was the kind of teacher who could explain complex climate issues and still have students writing secret love poems about her.

Right beside her, huffing after walking just five steps uphill, stood Mrs. Belly — a cheerful, round woman in a neon green jacket that hugged her like a happy dumpling wrap. She was sweating already but smiling even harder, her voice like a friendly foghorn.

> “Alright, campers!” she boomed. “It’s time for your first official challenge — the Peak Hike Fun Partner Game!”

A few groans mixed with claps.

> “Don’t worry,” Ms. Julie added smoothly, “you’re not racing to the top of Mount Everest. It’s just a gentle trail to Mid-Peak, with educational stops along the way. Plants, bugs, mountain trivia — and yes, some physical effort.”

> “And,” Mrs. Belly chimed in dramatically, “each of you will be hiking with a randomly selected partner. Which means — no choosing your BFF or your camp crush!”

Groans turned to laughter and chaos.

> “We’ve already shuffled the names!” Ms. Julie held up a bowl of folded slips. “Your partner is your fate for today — so treat them well, or we’ll give you extra tent-cleaning duty!”

One by one, names were drawn and announced.

Some pairs laughed in relief, others exchanged nervous looks.

Finally, only two names were left.

"Jeon Jungkook... and... Kim Taehyung."

A hush fell for half a beat before the other students gasped and giggled.

> “Omooo~ Jungkookie got the Ambassador~” someone whispered.

Jungkook, standing stiff in his hoodie and cargo pants, turned slowly as Taehyung — cool and relaxed in his all-black outdoor wear — walked over with a knowing smirk.

> “Ready for the peak, Bunny?” Taehyung teased quietly.

Jungkook pouted, trying to hide his smile.

> “You rigged this, didn’t you...?”

Taehyung leaned down just a little, voice soft only for him.

> “Fate did. I just smiled at it.”

Behind them, Mrs. Belly blew her whistle with over-the-top drama.

> “Move out, campers! Mid-Peak or mid-trouble — it’s your choice!”

And with that, pairs began their journey toward the mountain trail — leaves crunching under boots, backpacks bouncing, hearts racing for different reasons.

But for Taehyung and Jungkook, the hike was just beginning — in more ways than one.

The narrow trail wound between tall pine trees, the sky above streaked with soft gold as the sun began to lower behind the mountain. Each pair of junior and senior students walked with one wrist tied to their partner’s using a satin ribbon — soft but firm, in a symbolic reminder of teamwork and trust.
