The summer heat had started settling in, but for Jungkook, everything still felt cold.
He walked quietly along the school walls, a bit slower than usual, his hands tucked inside his hoodie pocket. His uniform clung loosely on him now-he'd grown quieter, paler, more fragile. The rumors about him skipping the prom, looking unwell, barely talking... they circled, but no one dared ask.
As he neared the gates, he saw a familiar broad back.
A boy, older, dressed in a clean athletic jacket. Strong posture. Confident. It was-
"Jimin sunbaenim...?" Jungkook's voice was unsure, soft.
The senior turned with a warm, polite smile. "Ah... yeah?"
Jungkook swallowed, his fingers curling nervously at his sides. He hesitated, biting the inside of his cheek as if holding something in.
But instead, he just asked, "You... graduated already?"
Jimin nodded. "Yeah. Last month. Just came to drop off some stuff to Coach."
Jungkook nodded back, a little slower, a little stiff.
Then the question came out in a whisper, "Do you... by any chance... know where Taehyung sunbaenim is? I mean, which college?"
Jimin tilted his head, a little confused by the suddenness, but answered casually.
> "Taehyung?"
"He went abroad."Jungkook's eyes widened. His breath caught. "W-What...?"
> "Yeah, I think he got selected for some K-pop trainee program overseas," Jimin said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Didn't really say goodbye to many people. Just packed up and left."
Jungkook couldn't speak.
His lips parted slightly, eyes blinking rapidly as if refusing to believe it. His knees weakened slightly, but he held his ground. His eyes welled with silent tears, and he quickly bowed his head.
"Thank you, sunbaenim," he whispered.
Jimin gave him a puzzled look but didn't push. "Take care, Jungkook-ah."
As the older boy walked away, Jungkook stood frozen.
The world blurred.
> He left.
Just like that.
He knew... and he still left.Jungkook slowly placed a hand over his stomach, his breathing shaky.
He wasn't just abandoned. He was left behind with a life growing inside him-and the one person who promised forever was now... gone.
The room was dim, lit only by the faint orange hue of sunset leaking through the curtains. A fan buzzed quietly above, but the air felt heavy-thick with anxiety, dread, and silence.
Jungkook sat on the floor beside his bed, knees drawn to his chest, a blanket half-wrapped around his shoulders like a fragile shield. In his trembling hand was his phone-Taehyung's contact still on the screen.
His thumb hovered over the "call" button.
Again.
Just one more time.
He might pick up this time... right?
His breath trembled. His heart pounded too loud.
He pressed it.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring...No answer.
Just like yesterday.
Just like the day before.
And the one before that.
