6. Uncomfortable tension

Vampires have always been hypersensitive. It was one of the first things Jungkook learned about in the biology of supernatural creatures. Many creatures can hear better and see better than humans do, to such a level that it would be hard to process. 

Part of the reason people stated being a fledgling was hard was due to the overwhelming amount of information the new vampire would receive just by opening their eyes. The small insects on the wall, the sound of chewing, scratching, the buzzing of a lightbulb, it was so overwhelming. They would teach vampires who wanted to become sires that the best way to help was to keep the room as dim and calm as possible, especially in the first few weeks. 

Eventually, you get used to it, but that doesnt mean that, like other creatures, vampires tend to want their environment a certain way. He noticed one day in class, when a cat-hybrid had come to speak for the class, the lights had been dimmed noticeably low, and the temperature was raised, Jungkook having to take off the jacket he would usually wear for that class.

To prove that point further, he paid attention to the settings in the dance practice studio, where the lights were kept low, and it was always chilly. Jungkook would find himself covered in goosebumps every time he stepped inside.

Creatures of the night aren't good with sunlight. That fact should be obvious; while the sun can't necessarily harm them, the brightness can cause headaches, and vampires fall quickly to things like sunburns and skin conditions. It makes it easy to recognise them in public; the human could always tell by the sunglasses, long sleeves, and even the occasional umbrella if they wanted to be dramatic about it. 

The same could be said for indoors, similar to the cat-hybrid in Jungkooks class, vampires also preferred dimmer lighting. Even in the penthouse, the settings were adjusted so carefully for the optimal comfort of the members, especially their dearest fledgling Jimin.

The last manager did a good job maintaining the settings, not that any of the members would appreciate it. Jungkook, on the other hand, had other ideas. 

"Can you come here, please?" There was a sharp knock at the door, startling him out of his trance, focused on his computer screen.  He turned to the sound, eyes narrowing skeptically as he walked to the door, turning the knob agonizingly slow. He was surprised to see Hoseok standing at his door. He rarely made eye contact with the now red-haired boy, so imagine his surprise when he's the one at his door. 

"Uh.. yeah?" Jungkook pushed his hands into his pockets, slightly leaning out of the doorway to make sure nobody else was in the hall.

"These are some of the notes and plans for the music video shoots coming up. Namjoon asked me to give them to you." Jungkooks eyes followed down the older's arms, to a packet he was holding.  His tone was so matter-of-fact, opposite to how his personality was, or at least seemed to be on camera. 

Jungkook removed his hand from his pocket, holding it up with the expectation that Hoseok would give it to him. "Okay, I'll review them now." He was always happy to match the energy of the members when it came to how they spoke to him.

The vampire sighed, handing the light amount of papers to his manager begrudingly. Jungkook really didn't have much say when it came to the music video or production of the album as a whole. He was more in charge of making sure that the members stayed in their lane and behaved.  

He watched the red-haired dancer walk away from his door without another word or even a glance in his direction. Perceptively, it wasn't hard to notice the slight eye bags under the main dancer's eyes, his voice raspy when he spoke to the manager, likely from hours of practicing. 

He shut the door, sitting on the edge of his bed as he looked over the packet in front of him. It was mostly just concept ideas, location settings for the shoot, and he noted that Jimin would have his own done separately.  They had been working on this comeback for a while, and the effort was visibly shown in how carefully constructed and thought-out everything was.
