Namjoon believed he was fairly good at reading people. He had a grasp on a lot of things people didn't want to, or care to know about.
He spent his time in his youth reading, taking the time to learn English, just so the amount of books he had access to vastly increased. Smart for his age, he excelled in school even one it was, at that time, very prestigious.
When he was young, being gay wasn't widely accepted.
He came off straight enough, having a few girlfriends by the time he reached his late teens, but it was never enough for the future leader. He had dreams, aspirations, those that couldn't be tied down to the small, fancy town he was raised in.
He loved to write poetry, creating delicate stories with quiet truths, rhyming line by line. He'd go over his own work repeatedly, methodically reading each and every letter, searching for something he could perfect, or make even better.
It was unfortunate what happened to him.
On a night he would never forget, one that started so peacefully. He found himself walking along the lone old street at night, passing over the unfenced bridge as he stopped to take it all in. He'd write it in his head, the beautiful stars in the sky. The delicate balance of the dark space above, and the bright moon and stars that inhabited it. He was so focused, he didn't see who pushed him over.
It was quick, and it was over, at least thats what he thought, escaping his fate as he endlessly hoped and thought of his family, people he loved so dearly, never seeing their son again. He was saved that night, unwillingly, at the price of his humanity.
He adjusted quickly, being as smart as he did, his sire saved his life. The beauty in things grew far faster with his new eyes; his senses were heightened to truly appreciate the stunning beauty of the earth around him, getting lost in it every chance he got.
He lost his family, his friends, watching them die off while he stayed the same. Forever unchanging, he watched the world around him grow and the music industry at large get bigger and bigger.
At first, entertainment companies didn't hire supernaturals. Back in the early days, vampires had still been viewed as predators. Hell's creatures sent upon humans to feed off them, the stigma made the idea of having vampire idols unrealistic. The pressure to keep things civil made the entertainment industry as a whole human-only.
That changed suddenly. Now, if you asked him personally, Namjoon would unlikely be able to tell when it happened, but there was a shift. The stamina and agility of creatures like werewolves and vampires were appreciated, allowing for more boundaries to be pushed at the expense of the idols. They could take on heavier workloads, and when Namjoon auditioned for Bighit, he was welcomed in immediately.
He didn't expect to fall so hard for the five members he was grouped with.
Spending time with them, getting ready to debut, the smiles and chatter amongst them, it was hard not to. He was visibly flirty with Jin from day one, and it didn't take long for them to start hooking up, unknown to most of the vampires.
It took Yoongi catching them for him to become a third. The smaller vampire, not seeming very surprised at the scene in front of him. Namjoon loved them both dearly, and when he found himself making out with Hoseok drunk, he realized his three had now become four.
With Taehyung, that was all thanks to Jin. He had coaxed a confession out of the younger, having noticed Taehyung had been acting strange, only to receive a love confession. That was rather normal for vampires, but Taehyung was still recently turned when the situation was brought on him, and it took more time for him to adjust.
Namjoon was fond of the youngest member, the sweet boy with the baritone voice was perfect in his eyes, they all were.
Jimin was something else. Namjoon had grown unamused by humans; he had spent so much time around them that they had all blended together. Nothing new, and with how humans took care of the earth, it was even easier to grow a disdain for them. He didn't see them as food much; humans satisfied his thirst, but he craved more than just that.
