Chapter 2

Josh POV

I was currently sitting next to my very talkative bus buddy, because somebody *cough Mr. Johnson cough cough*  came up with the idea that you should stay with your buddy at all times. Mr. Johnson was now handing everybody their ‘personal Paris survival kits’, which included a map, the teachers’ phone numbers (yeah, now I can stalk Mrs. Robins! My life is complete.) and last but not least a super cool, bright yellow rain cape. Just what I needed.

‘Wow, looks like somebody has taken a look at my wish list,’ I said. My sad attempt of a joke resulted in my buddy’s sad attempt of a reaction, which was none.

I decided to listen to some music, so I took my IPod out of my backpack and turned it on. I turned up the volume and zoned out. Luckily, I got the window seat, so I could rest my head against the window and watch the world flash by. After about thirty minutes of listening to David Guetta, the battery of my IPod decided that it was time for him to take some rest. Nice.

I tried sleeping, but that didn’t work. And since I was bored out of my mind, I decided to have a nice one-sided conversation with my dear bus buddy. I might as well give him a chance. Plus I’d never been silent for this long in my entire life and I simply couldn’t keep it in anymore.

‘Well, at least the weather’s better here.’ Silence. ‘So that’s a plus.’  Nothing.

‘Do you think we have WIFI in the hotel?’ Brilliant idea Josh, ask him a question now he had to talk to me.

Or not.

‘You don’t talk much, do you?’ No reaction. Was he daydreaming? Or dead or something. Somehow I didn’t believe that.

I brought my lips to his ear and whispered ‘Don’t look but I think Mr. Johnson is on to us’ still  nothing.

So I poked him, then started waving my hands in front of his face. Nothing. Ow come on something must get this boy to at least move.

I stamped my feet. Nothing

Clapped my hands. Nothing (though I swear I saw his eye twitch which was progress I guess)

Ok, desperate times ask for desperate measures. So I attacked him with one of my surprise hugs. HA! He didn’t see that one coming, and although he still didn’t make a sound he was so shocked that he nearly fell of his seat (taking me with him since I was still hugging him). Then (after I decided to let go) he stared at me like I had just transformed into a sea cow. ‘I won! You moved.’

Daniel POV

Dear mother of God, please get me out of this bus! I swear, if I have to be near this idiot for another five minutes, I’d be ready for the madhouse.

‘Are you a good singer?’ What? Where did that come from?!

‘I was just wondering. Since talking doesn’t seem to be your thing, maybe we could sing together. What would you like to sing?’

I don’t like where this is going...

‘Okay, then I’ll come up with something!’ No really, that’s not necessary. Please just let me sit here in peace.

‘How aboooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuut...’  Please don’t, please don’t, please don’t, please-

‘If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands’ *clap clap* ‘If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands – come on buddy, sing with me! If you’re happy...’

He didn’t seem to have any shame or anything, since he was practically screaming through the whole bus and everybody was looking at us.

‘SECOND VERSE! If you’re happy and you know it stamp your feet! *stamp stamp* ‘Everybody!’

I felt a panic attack coming up. I desperately wanted to run to the door, but since we were in a driving bus, that might not be the best idea ever.

‘If you’re happy and you know it and you really want to show it, if you’ re happy and you know it stamp your feet.’ *STAMP STAMP*

‘Well that was nice, wasn’t it?’

I decided not to respond to this.

‘So, what’s your name?’

He didn’t expect me to answer that now, did he?

‘I’ll start singing again...’

NO! PLEASE NO!

‘DANIEL! My name is Daniel. Please don’t sing.’

‘Well, Daniel, I’m really looking forward to this vacation. The whole week by your side. Every day. Every minute.’

Well, I’m doomed.
