Rolfie and the lady drummer...

Daniel POV

I was slowly waking up when I noticed I was lying on a stone. A very comfy stone. I was not sure what I was doing there, but I was too tired to care. My mouth was dry. My feet were cold. And I couldn’t feel my left arm. That couldn’t be good.

I tried to move my arm a bit, but it was trapped under the stone’s head. Stone’s…head…Stone’s head… Something wasn’t right about that, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. O well, never mind. I was tired and I needed more sleep.

So that’s what I did. Sleep. Only to be rudely woken up (after what didn’t seem like more than ten minutes) because apparently, I was lying on the only stone in the entire world that couldn’t lay still. Maybe the universe was trying to give me a sign to wake up and get my lazy ass out of the bed.

Okay, come on Daniel, you can do it. Step one: open your eyes.

LIGHT!!!  God, curtains these days. You can't trust them for a minute! Hey wait. The curtains were open. Hey wait. Those weren’t my curtains.  Weird.....

My rock was moving again, which brought me back to why I woke up. I looked to my left and there was no rock, but a Josh. I was lying on Josh. Or well, I was crushing him like a whale. We were a big bunch of limbs and I couldn’t figure out which parts were mine, since nothing seemed to be where I left it.

O God, not good, o God, PANIC! No! Don’t panic! Stay calm, stay calm…PANIC! PANIC!

Then I shrieked, moved away quickly, lost my balance and fell of the bed. Backwards. Meanwhile I tripped over Josh’ head, which resulted in him almost slipping of the bed, but stopping just before his head reached the ground.  Now he was lying in a weird angle, which couldn’t be comfortable, with his head hanging upside down of the edge of the bed. Please don’t be awake, please don’t be awake…

Stupid Daniel. You just tripped over his head, of course he’s awake!

Josh made a ‘urgh’ sound, then a ‘ulgh’ sound and then slowly opened his eyes, blinking them because of the bright light. Only to see me lying beneath him on the ground. Upside down.

 Let’s say he looked a little bit…surprised.

‘Good morning to you too, Daniel,’ he said with a slight smile on his face.

I didn’t really know what to say. I couldn’t just say: ‘Morning! Sorry about the head-tripping, I didn’t mean to!’. So I just nodded. Then I remembered I was still lying on the ground. I jumped up and nearly fell down again because of my complete lack of balance. But luckily I recovered just in time.

Then I noticed that Josh had jumped up as well and was standing next to me, ready to catch me. Apparently his reflexes were better than mine when it came to me.

 ‘Are you okay?’ he asked.

I nodded, then mumbled something like: ‘Just…balance.’

‘No, I mean: are you okay?’ he asked again.
