It was a calm day, like any other. Nothing was out of place, not a rock, not a grain of sand. The water lapped at the shore gently and the sun beat heavily against the sand leaving it naturally hot. The man that stood in the sand observing the scene didn't expect what was to happen next. The wind picked up and the waves crashed harder against the sand, but still he stood there behind his camera snapping photographs of one of the most secluded beaches in the whole globe.
Click, Click, Click. Something exploded far of in the distance and when the man looked back at the picture he had just snapped the image made his stomach churn. He could see the vivid image of a child suspended in air their body bent in mid air a distorted expression of pure pain. His blood ran cold as another crack exploded in the water and the ground shook beneath his feet. His eyes searched the water frantically for the child that surely was drowning, but the waves were too high and rapid for him to catch a glimpse. He moved around his camera he feet finally feeling the scalding heat of the sand. He ran forward lurching for the waves, but a wall of fire leap up from the sand blocking him from the water. He stared up amazed at the wall and then he scrambled backwards as it moved to form a ball of heat that shook and trembled the earth. He quickly closed up the legs of his tripod and made to run away, but the wind knocked him off his feet and the sand seemed to pull him into the earth so he could not move.
Then the wind spoke. "Find them homes.. M-m-m-make them normal." it whispered. "H-h-h-hide them from th-th-th great evil."
The Earth split again and he saw the little infant laying on the ground. The sand released his ankles and he moved to get closer to the child, but the waves fell and the child was engulfed. He screamed out for the child and he cursed under his breath. The sphere of fire still raged above him and his fingers just brushed the water before the flames above him exploded and a body was sent flying into the air, he extended his arms in hopes of catching it. The body came soaring down and he caught her just before she landed in the sand. Her body was red hot and he fumbled to still keep her in his arms as she burned his skin. He set her down in the sand and then scooped up some of the ice cold waves before splashing it across her skin. Smoke rolled off her body and she began to cry and wriggle as the water smoked off her. He sat down beside her and his jaw dropped when he saw another child wash up on the shore line. Sea weed was stuck over his head and he let water dribble over his chin. The man rushed forward and set this boy next to the little girl. He sat down in front of them and stared at them. Who were these kids? What were these kids?
And as if he knew what must be done he stood up and placed each kid on a different hip and disappeared into the cavern towards the city.
