Shubomi stood by the shadows of the darkly lit passage way. Staring at his nephew who sat away from everyone, he looks out of touch on the patio. Staring at the full moon like it would give him answers he had been seeking for.

The date must not have gone as he planned. He texted him in the morning about the date he was having with her but with the solemn countenance he was wearing, something must have happened.

He walked out in the open. He was in his sleeping wear which was a checkered grey pajama pants and white round neck. In contrast to his nephew who was still sporting what he guessed was what he wore to the proposed date.

"Hey buddy..."

Akorede looked at his uncle for a short while before turning away. Shubomi rolled his eyes. Of course he was doing this because his wife made him do it. She kept complaining that his nephew was looking all detached ever since he came over this evening.

The cold breeze blew in their direction which made him shiver lightly. He should have worn a hoodie or something, his nephew seems unaffected basically because he had a thick jacket on.

"Are you alright?" He asked not just because of the filial responsibility he seems to be dishing out these days but because he was genuinely concerned. "It looks like you cried. Have you been crying?"

Akorede shook his head, rubbing his face.

"No" his voice came out hoarse. Shubomi snickered.

"The date didn't go as planned i suppose"

"It wasn't a date"

"It didn't sound like that when you sent me that text this morning. I thought you made a mistake because i wasn't really interested in your dating life" he said cooly. Akorede sighed in annoyance.

"Why are you here then?" He sat up at the question before glaring down at Akorede.

"Well my wife refused to cuddle with me because my hard headed nephew prefers to sit outside in the cold. She won't hear it unless i bring him back in!" He whispered accusingly.

"I'm glad I will be the cause of you not getting any action tonight" Akorede replied with a smirk. Shubomi swore loudly at him.

"How did it go?" He finally asked.

"Not like i expected"

"How?"

"A lot was said... She told me not to wait for her. That i should move on and find another person..."

"Hmmm..."

"She told me she may find another person" he said bitterly.

"Of course she would" He gave his uncle a harsh glare at that statement.

"You are not helping matters"

"Are you worried about her leaving you or about her meeting another person?"

"I don't know..." He muttered.

"I don't want to interfere in your personal life but i think you should respect her personal opinion. Let things be... If it was meant to happen, it will happen "

He sighed at his uncle's statement.

"I know"

There was silence for a while before Shubomi seems to understand something.

"Was that why you were crying?" He teased which made him groan.

"Now it's time for the valedictorian speech but there is a clause to it this year as our valedictorian is not present physically but we will be connecting with her via Zoom as she gives her speech." The speaker informed the large audience in the school hall.
