We laid Norman on the soft white comforter of his bed. I searched his room for medical supplies of some kind. I heard Jack take Norman's shirt off, just as I found some bandages and other essentials. For the first time ever, I was pleased that I took those six hour medical sessions and learned to sew. I'd need to do quite a bit of it. I turned around, and felt my heart tear and my stomach flipped.

Norman had muscles! Each muscle was defined, and his chest had a fair amount of hair on it. Not long, nasty hair, but short, curly hair. I noticed a bit of ink imprinted on his left peck spelling his own name out. But then I noticed the huge gash in his side. Blood was plastered onto his skin. The pained expression on his face made my heart ache for him.

I brought the supplies over to Norman, setting them down on the bed beside his wound. I took a rag, and turned to Jack. "Get me a bucket of water. Please." I ordered. He nodded, and left Norman and I alone. I turned to him, and brushed some hair out of his face. "How are you feeling?"

"Like I got stabbed." He muttered, laying his head down on the pillow. I nodded. Then, I leaned down, giving his forehead a small kiss.

"I'm glad you're ok." I mumbled, trailing my hand down his face. He smiled ever so slightly at me.

"Me too. I'm glad nothin' happened to you." He murmured, raising his hand to my face, rubbing his thumb on my cheek. "You're so beautiful, has anyone told you that?"

I was a little surprised by his comment, but smiled through my surprise. "When I cover my face with powder."

"That ain't beauty." Norman stated, moving his hand to the back of my head. "You're beauty. Everything about you is gorgeous." I blushed at his compliments, and attempted to look away. But Norman lifted his other hand and turned me to face him. "Don't look away. I wanna see you." He mumbled, gazing up at me. Slowly, I felt him dragging my head down towards him. I let my eyes flutter close as I leaned in for my first kiss.

Right before we could kiss, however, someone knocked on the door.

"Dammit!" I hissed under my breath. Norman chuckled as I sat up. Making my way to the door, I glanced back at Norman. He had his eyes closed, and his chest heaved. Blood was still pouring out of the wound.

Opening the door, I grabbed the bucket from Jack and raced back to Norman's side. "Norm- I mean, Captain, this is gonna hurt." I warned, dipping a rag into the luke warm water. Norman nodded, and grabbed the sheets. I set it away from the wound, cleaning out to in. I made small circling motions with the rag, Norman occasionally flinching. When I got to the main wound, I glanced at him. "Jack, hold him down. This is gonna hurt badly." I warned. Jack nodded, and placed him palms on Norman's shoulders, keeping him down. Wringing out the cloth again, I gently started to clean up the wound. He hissed, and arched his back slightly. I placed a hand on his rough, strong chest. He groaned slightly, trying to shift while I scrubbed at the raw wound.

"Shh, stay still. It'll only hurt worse if you keep moving." I murmured comfortingly. He grit his teeth in response, fisting the sheets.

Finally, I set the cloth in the bloody bucket. "Refill this and clean the blood out." I ordered. Jack nodded and left. It turned to Norman. "All I have to do is disinfect the wound and stitch it up. Then we can cover it." I explained, smoothing his hair back.

"Fuckin' hurts." He muttered, and I couldn't tell if it was sweat of rain water dripping off his forehead. Probably a mix of both.

"I know. And it's only gonna hurt worse, ok?" I murmured, leaning back down and kissing his forehead again. He groaned. "You're lucky. I don't think he hurt anything vital."

"Hurray." He grumbled. Then he turned to look up at me. "Are you sure you didn't get hurt? Or touched in any way?" He mumbled, moving his hand to my cheek again. I leaned into his touch, covering his hand with mine.
