I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more.

Christina Perri: A Thousand Years

I dressed back into my golden dress, keeping the pants on (pants are comfy!). I checked my reflection in a broken mirror, and was slightly horrified by my appearance. My hair was still in a bun with bits of it sticking out, while my make up was running from the sweat. I glanced around and grabbed a washcloth. Dipping it in some water, I quickly scrubbed my make up off until it was all gone. I took my hair out of my bun, letting the dirty blonde locks fall down over my shoulders. Running my fingers through my hair, I heard someone approach me from behind. It was Edward.

"Captain Reedus is waiting for you, Isabelle." He stated.

"I'm almost ready. Can you please help me with my dress strings?" I asked. Edward seemed nice, and I enjoyed his company. He nodded and walked up behind me. While he laced my dress up, I tended to my hair. It was taming a little, but was darker with sweat. Hopefully Norman wouldn't mind it.

"There. Are you ready to see the Captain now?" He asked. I nodded, feeling butterflies in my stomach. Edward led me out of the cell. The salty air hit us on our way out. The sky was noticeably darker. How long had I been in there? I wondered. Did I take too long?

"He's in there, Isabelle." Edward stated, gesturing to the door Norman had entered earlier. I nodded, and stood outside of the door, taking deep breaths. Of all the things in this world, I was scared of meeting with him. Not of all the pirates in the world. No, the Princess Isabelle is scared of accompanying a man to dinner.

Taking a deep breath, I opened the door. I was greeted with the smell of roast bird immediately, and it made my mouth water.

"Isabelle?" Norman called, making my heart leap slightly. Where these sudden feelings came from was a mystery.

"Yes?" I answered. Norman stepped into view, dressed in a very nice black coat. His white shirt had fluff at the end, and he wasn't wearing his usual hat. His long hair was slicked back, and his stubbly beard had been trimmed. He looked like he had cleaned up a bit. His blue eyes sparkled when he saw me.

"You look lovely tonight." He complimented. I blushed and glanced away.

"You do too. I mean, not lovely, I mean, handsome. Er-" I kept stumbling over my sentences. Eventually, I just shut my mouth.

Norman chuckled. "Shall we eat?" He asked, gesturing to the table of food. A roast chicken of some sort sat in the center, while bowls of vegetables surrounded it. It looked delicious. I nodded, and shut the door behind me. Norman pulled out a chair for me, and waited until I sat down before pushing it in. Then he sat down across from me. "Help yourself." He gestured to the food. I took my plate, and (remembering castle traditions) only took a small portion of chicken and some beans. Norman glanced at me curiously while he loaded his plate with food. "Not very hungry?"

"It's not that. In the castle, I only take a little so that the lords can have the most." I explained, taking a bite of the steaming beans. They practically melted in my mouth.

"Well, we're not in a castle, so take as much as you want." He stated, taking a bite of potato. Hesitantly, I reached forward and took the whole chicken leg. However as I was trying to sever the leg from the bird, I ended up accidentally taking most of the chicken with me. Norman arched an eyebrow at me. "Ok, not that much."

"I'm trying to get the leg." I explained, starting to get frustrated with it. I took my knife, and stabbed where the leg and bird kept in contact. The knife easily separated it, and I set the chicken leg on my plate. Norman chuckled. Then I served myself a little bit of everything.
