I wake up on my couch and the first thing I do it check the time. Oh, my God, 10 am.
"Man I got a lot of sleep last night, at least 11 hours," I mumble to myself. I slowly get up and drag myself over to the kitchen. I open up my cupboards and stare into the empty abyss. I still don't have much as far as food goes; a box of cereal, some flour, milk, a couple of eggs, butter, and a small assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables. After a good minute of blankly staring in my empty cupboards and fridge, I decided to treat myself to some pancakes. I make the mix, and luckily I had bought some blueberries, so I throw a couple of those in too; I had nothing to put on the pancakes, so I guess I'll just put something in them. I cook the batter and have enough for three reasonably sized pancakes.
When I've finished eating, I waddle back to the kitchen from the table and place my plate in the sink. I briefly consider leaving it there and washing it later, but knowing me, I would never end up cleaning it, so I decide it's better to do it now.
I hear the vibration of my phone on the table and walk over to see that I received a text from Joey.
Joey: Hey girl want to go to Disney land?
Me: sure I'll be ready in 20, meet you at your place
Joey: cool :)
Me: see you then
I walk into my room and pick out some clothes to wear. I put on my floral, skinny jeans, a mint green short-sleeved blouse, and a cream cardigan. I pair the outfit with my combat boots. I make my way to the bathroom, pull my hair up into a messy bun, and start to apply my make up. I just put on some light foundation, mascara, and a subtle pink lip gloss. I pack my handbag with the essentials: my camera, purse, lipgloss, mascara, a bottle of water, and my phone.
I finish just as I hear a knock on my door.
"Hey Joey," I say, "I said I'd meet you at your place."
"I got tired of waiting," he chuckled, "Are you ready?" He asks.
"I think so!" I say. We walk out of the apartment building and into the car park. We hop into Satsuki and begin to drive to Disney Land.
Once again I whip out my vlogging camera and begin to film.
"Hey guys, so I'm in the car with Joey, and we're headed off to the land of Disneyland."
"Yes, we are!" Joey added, using his grandfather voice.
We continued driving to Disneyland, laughing and singing the whole way there. When we arrive, we head straight towards the rides. We spend the day laughing and chatting, going on countless rides and waiting in countless lines. After three hours of fun, we decided to look for a place to stop for lunch.
Today is the day, I think. I after three months of being best friends, I want a more significant relationship with Joey. It's now two months since I first realised that I had deeper feelings for Joey and that I wanted something beyond friendship. Telling him how I feel is going to be so painful, and I'm nervous that me saying this will ruin everything we've built. I've only ever had one boyfriend that lasted for two weeks, and he asked me over Skype; I don't have much experience with this kind of thing.
"KATIE!" Joey yelled.
"What?" I say.
"What do you want to drink?" He asked, the tone of voice he used, indicated that it wasn't the first time he asked. I was so lost in thought that everything around me no longer existed.
"Um. Apple juice will be fine." I answer.
We are halfway through our food, and I stop Joey.
"What?" He asks.
"Well, we're best friends right?" I ask him. A rush of anxiety and excited pulse through my body.
"Of course we are. Why?" Joey answers. There is a moment of silence between us. I feel my ears turning hot and my cheeks flushing pink. I'm feeling a mixture of so many emotions right now, and I know that the only way to relax is just to say it.
"Well, Joey, I think I like you more than that."
"Huh?" Joey says confusion spread all across his perfect face.
"What I'm trying to say is. Will you go out with me Joey?"
