Light pours into my bedroom and wakes me up from my slumber. I sheepishly drag myself out to the kitchen in my One Direction t-shirt, leggings and UGG boots. My hair is in a big messy bun at the top of my head; I look like I have either been sleeping for ten years or haven't slept in ten years. I grab out some cereal and pour it into a bowl and add some almond milk. I stagger over to my dining table sit down to eat my breakfast, I slowly bring the spoon to my mouth, swallowing the cereal. Once I finally finish, I waddle over to the sink to wash my dishes.
Once I've finished, I sit down to watch TV.
"There's nothing good on during the day," I mumble to myself while clicking through the channels.
Suddenly there is a knock at my door.
"I'm coming." I slowly get up and make my way to the door.
"Hay gurl!" Joey says.
"Hey, Joey," I say, not sounding as happy as he did.
"Not a morning person I see."
"Nope, not really," I respond. It's true. I'm not fully functional until at least an hour after I wake up.
"Well, don't worry, I won't be here for long. I just wanted to have your number, since we're friends now. It will just make it easier for us to organise things." He awkwardly says.
"Okay, I'll be right back." I go to my room to grab my phone.
"Here, give me your phone." We exchange phones and put in our numbers.
"Here," I say, giving Joey back his phone. He returns my phone as well.
"Cool, I'm off to the gym, see ya, Katie."
"Bye."
I return to the couch. After five minutes of channel surfing, I decided to get dressed. I wear my blue short shorts with my Pikachu tee, I slide on my red vans and make my way to the bathroom. I apply my concealer, eyeliner, mascara and lipgloss and take down my hair. I decide to straighten it; the ombré always looks that bit better when my hair is straight.
I've chipped all my nail polish, so I decide to take it off and apply a pastel yellow to match my shirt.
I sit down and text Joey.
Me: Finished at the gym?
Joey: Yeah, was a good session
Me: That's good, wanna get a juice or something?
Joey: yeah, juice sounds good
Me: meet you there at 10 :)
Joey: see ya :D
I sit and play Angry Birds for five minutes then grab my handbag and make my way to the juice place.
----5 MINUTES LATER----
Joey is waiting for me outside the juice place.
"You weren't waiting too long, were you?" I ask.
"No, I only got here a minute ago."
"That's good."
We walk in and order our juice. We sit down and start talking.
"So how old are you?" Joey asks.
"Five and a quarter," I say taking a sip, enjoying the look of confusion that flushes over Joey's face.
"I was born 29th of February," I say.
"Ohh.... 1992?"
"Yeah."
"Cool. I'm May 16th 1991." He states.
"Cool. Where were you born?"
"Boston, my friend and I moved here together."
We continue to talk for two hours, getting engrossed in each other's pasts and laughing at funny stories. It's great that I somehow managed to meet such a great person as soon as I got to LA, I was anxious that it would take me months to make friends, or that I would never make any. I'm fortunate that I met Joey.
"This was fun!" I say.
"Yeah, it was. We should make a YouTube video together."
"Yeah, we should. What should we do?" I ask.
"Ummm... We could do the best friend tag?" He suggests. Wow, that was quick. We've known each other for two days, and he's already calling me his best friend.
"Yeah, sounds good. Shall we film at my place?"
"Yes, we shall," Joey says using an old man's voice.
