Prince's POV

We leave for Syracuse in the morning and Genevieve seems to have her head on straight now. After our talk we grabbed some food and headed back to the room. She cried some more but I didn't leave her side. I'll never leave her side.

"Genny, are you really not staying with me in Syracuse?"

"I promised Jack Jack we'd have a sleepover."

"Just bring her to the hotel. I'll get you guys a room."

"I'd have to see but I'll ask later. Can't bear to be without me for one night?" She smirks.

"For one minute." I smile nipping at her shoulder.

"I have an idea." She says with a devilish grin. "Is the rental still outside?"

"Yea?"

"Let's just drive in tonight."

"Tonight?!"

"It's only a little over 3 hours away."

"Syracuse?"

"No Queens."

"You know it'll be like 2 am when we get there."

"That's fine."

"Where will we sleep?"

"I'll just call Baba. I will probably share a bed with Jack Jack as always and you can sleep on the couch."

"Your mom would try to kill me."

"You wanna stay at a shitty motel?"

"Nah. Not feeling that either."

"Well our last option is for you to play the celebrity card."

"I don't think it would work." She pauses for a long while trying to devise a plan.

"Do we have to go to sleep?" A smirk spreads across her face as she looks for my response.

"What do you mean?"

"I know somewhere we could go but we wouldn't get any sleep."

"Woman, I'm half sleep right now and you over here talking in riddles!"

"Fine. I'll leave it alone but you're the one missing out."

"What do you have planned?"

"I could call up some friends. We could drive straight into a jam session and pull an all-nighter."

"Is this really how you lived your life?"

"Dance all morning, serve until evening, sing all night. I don't see anything wrong with it." She shrugs a sense of excitement taking over as she talks.

"So you just never slept?"

"I'd get like 5 hours a night. 7 or 8 if we didn't have a gig."

"Aren't you glad you get full nights of sleep now?"

"Yea, but I just want to use that energy to do more."

"You need to learn how to take a break."

"Andre says you don't take breaks either."

"I mean he's right but I at least get sleep. Speaking of, it's pretty late. We should get some rest."

"Stay up with me. We can sleep on the bus."

"I'm not going on this crazy mission with you. I'm going to bed."

"Let's at least wake up early."

"I will not be waking up until 8:30 and keep the tv off too." I sigh pulling the covers back. I lie down, sinking into the mattress as I pull the covers over me. "You could be this cozy too." I smirk snuggling into the sheets. Angrily, she sighs, lifting the covers and laying in front of me.

______

The next morning she's up early. By the time I wake up she's already dressed and packed for the road.

"W-what are you...doing up?" I yawn sitting up.

"Writing. I need to remember some things for my meet ups tonight."

"Rehearsals?"

"Kind of. One is more of a walk through. I'm not getting on stage for that one. The other is drunk rehearsal so it doesn't really count."

"Drunk rehearsal? What does that mean?"

"Sometimes when we haven't been together in a while or we've been working too hard and losing or connection as a group or our creativity, we get together and play and drink. It helps everyone calm down a little bit."

"That sounds like a fucking disaster."

"It's pretty serious. We have rules."

"Oh yea?"

"Yea. You can't be drunk. Any sign of incoherence and you get sent home. Once two people got sent home rehearsals over and everyone goes home. If it's so bad it's more people than that the gig is cancelled. No one wants to risk the money or worse be the reason we don't get paid so normally after one person gets kicked out everyone goes home."

"How many times has the gig been cancelled?"

"Once and someone almost got a black eye after the fact because it happened around the holidays and we all needed the money." I nod without words. I don't get this but clearly it works for them. Maybe she'll let me observe.

"Can I come to rehearsal?"

"Yea. Everyone can come.  They don't care as long as there are no interruptions or distractions. Now come pack your clothes."
