I see the pain in your eyes.
I see how it weighs you down.
See how it eats at you,
And tears away at your heart.
I wish I could help,
But I know that I can't.
It's not something I can do.
Not that you'd let me try.
I know that you keep it inside.
I see the struggle to be happy in your eyes.
The desire to be loved,
But the love remains unreturned.
I wish it could be me.
I wish that you could see.
I'm here if you need me.
All you have to do is call.
I'm there if I can.
I mean you help me see the light.
I wish I could be the same.
You set off a switch.
I don't know what it is.
But then you shred me apart.
You make me shy away.
This is why I hide.
I'd rather hide from the pain.
It's easier for me on the inside.
I know all that's in my mind.
Unlike you, it can't catch me by surprise.
You catch me off guard.
You do it most everyday.
In just the littlest things that you say.
The moves that you make.
Even the look on your face.
I wish I could help you.
To help you keep it at bay
To prevent it from eating you away.
