Chapter 7
"Beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep," my phone kept beeping even though I had repeatedly told it to shut up. Defeated, I grabbed my phone an saw that I had a text from Kal, Kaylee had given me everyone's numbers yesterday.
"Hey Lori it's Kal. Can you txt me ur ideas for the project ASAP? Thanks"
Oh shoot. The project. I still don't have any ideas for that! I fell asleep before I could think of anything. Shoot! Okay, I just need to come up with an idea. I completely new idea that has never been used before, ever. Great. Think Lori! I grabbed a scratch piece of paper to write down my ideas.
People normally do things to promote stuff like community service or pet shelters, right? So anything like that is not gonna work. Dangit. What else is there? I started to doodle on the paper. Think Lori! Think! Okay, okay, all of those seem awfully specific. Maybe we could go with something more broad, like change? But what would we change? Something like the environment would be stupid. Technology would be to hard. I need to think more outside the box. I never really got that expression. I mean how do you think outside a box? Shouldn't it be more think outside the circle? You know, for the Earth? Wait! Earth! World! I have it! I know what we could do!
I immediately grabbed my phone and texted Kal my idea. He loved it! Thank goodness! I was really worried that it would be to vague. But I think it is something that we could have a lot of fun with!

Sometime around six I heard a knock at the door. I put the rhododendron that Kal had given me back in the window and went to answer the door.
"Hey Lori. Kaylee sent me to pick you up for dinner," Kal said.
"Oh! Thanks! I'll be right there. Let me go get my stuff. You can come in if you want," I walked up the stairs to my bedroom and over to the duffle bag that I had laying on my bed. I grabbed some last minute items and walked back down to meet Kal. I found him in the kitchen, looking at the rhododendron that he had given me.
"You've taken really good care of this," he said with a small smile.
"Of course! It's beautiful! It would be a waste to let it die!"
"You think so too? Kaylee doesn't really like plants, but that's probably because they don't particularly like her either. Darcy thinks that they are pointless, and Dax couldn't really care one way or another. I think you might be the only one that feels the same as me."
"Yeah, most high schoolers don't really like flowers do they?"
"No," Kal said sadly. "They don't."
I walked over to where he was standing and smiled. "Kal, do you think-"
"I want to change that," Kal interrupted.
"What?"
"I want to change everything! Lori we have to do it! Your idea! We have to use it as our focus!" Kal was now standing really close to me. And dang was he tall! Then again, when you're as short as me everyone seem tall. I looked up to look him in the eyes and try to comfort him, but I had forgotten the effect his sky blue eyes had on me. I ended up just staring up at him like an idiot. Kal looked down at me and smiled sadly. He took his had and brushed a piece of my black hair out of my eyes.
"I'm sorry Lori I didn't mean to-"
"Good gosh! What is taking you two so long! I told you to pick her up quickly! Jeeze Kal! Dinner is gonna get cold!" Kaylee barged it to the kitchen, carrying my duffle bag and hurried both of us over to her house.
