Chapter 12
"So what do you say? Want to go to homecoming with me?" Kal asked.
What? Oh my gosh. Kal just asked me to homecoming. And now he was staring at me with his sky blue eyes and blushing. He was blushing! Was he trying to look that cute? Oh gosh. Kal is so cute and I haven't answered him yet and I really need to but I can't find the words and I really, really want to say yes!
"Yes," I manage to get out. "Yes! I would love to go with you!"
Kal smiled a huge smile and pulled me into a hug.
"YES!" Kaylee tackled both of us in a group hug. "YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO THE DANCE TOGETHER! THIS IS GREAT! YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA HOW GREAT THIS IS! I SWEAR I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SINCE LORI MOVED NEXT DOOR! I AM THE MASTER MATCHMAKER! ALL SHALL BE MATCHED BY ME!"
"Kay! Kay! We can't breath!" Kal wheezed out before Kaylee let us go.
"Come on lovebirds and Master Matchmaker, lets get home," Darcy smiled and we went to check out. Kal and I walking side-by-side the whole way.
---------------------------------------------
"Darcy, is Austin flying in for this dance?" Kaylee asked from the front seat of Kal's car.
"Nope, he has school," Darcy said, sounding disappointed.
"Of course he does," Dax rolled his eyes.
"What about you Dax?" Kaylee asked before a fight could start.
"Like anyone would go with him!' Darcy laughed.
"Actually, I do have a date!" Dax said smugly.
"Yeah, and I hate One Direction."
"I'm going with Taylor Skite."
The whole car became dead silent.
"Wait... You're going with TayWhore?" Darcy asked in disbelief. We exchanged looks of dread. This was bad. Taylor probably didn't even like him! She was probably using him to get back at Darcy! What about Kaylee? Kaylee really likes Dax! I glanced towards the front of the car to see how Kaylee was doing. She had fallen silent, and I couldn't see her face from my seat. This was not going to be good.
Kal parked his car in front of his house and we all got out. Immediately, Kaylee grabbed Darcy and me and dragged us across the street to my house.
"Hi Kaylee! Hi Darcy!" My mom said as we passed by her on the way to my room. That's how much Kaylee and Darcy come over. My mom doesn't even question their presence. Once we were all in my room Kaylee let go and shut the door.
"All in favor of killing Dax?" Darcy askd.
"Umm... How about harm? Killing might leave evidence" I joked.
Kaylee sat down on my bed and then aske, "Do you guys have any candles?"
"We should why?" I opend my closet door and staredt to look around. "Found them!"
Darcy raised an eyebrow, "You're not thinking what I think you're thinking, right Kaylee?"
"I don't know. Are you thinking that what I'm thinking is what I'm actually thinking?"
"I'm thinking that you're thinking Hawaiian voodoo ceremony."
"Then what you think that I am thinking is what I'm thinking."
"Wait, what?" I asked confused.
"I used to live in Hawaii before I moved here. I still go back every summer to visit family and my friend, Christine. My grandmother taught me this voodoo ceremony when I was little so that Christine and I could get back at Kal for stealing our dolls," Kaylee explained.
"Does it work?" I asked.
"We got our dolls back," Kaylee shrugged.
Darcy sighed and took the candles from me, "I'll start setting up."
Darcy placed three of the candles in a circle and threw the rest on the bed. Kaylee left the room and came back withsome matches and one of the mixing bowls from my kitchen filled with water. She placed the bowl in the center of the circle and sat down in front of a candle. Darcy and I did the same. Kaylee lit her candle and handed the matches to each of us so that we could do the same. Kaylee took a picture of Dax out of her wallet and placed it face up in the bowl of water.
I was starting to get a little freaked out. Wasn't voodoo dangerous? What if we seriously hurt Dax? I was lost in this train of thought when Kaylee started chanting.
"Ommmmmmm curse this idiot," She said with her eyes closed.
"Ommmmmmm make this idiot trip and land on his face in front of TayWhore," Darcy joined in.
"Ommmmmmm make this idiot go die in a hole," Kaylee chanted.
"Ommmmmmm that idiot doesn't deserve a hole," Darcy pointed out.
"Ommmmmmm correction, make this idiot go die without a hole," Kaylee said.
"Ommmmmmm make this idiot's underwear turn pink and make his pants fall down so TayWhore sees that he has pink underwear," Darcy chanted.
"Ommmmmmm turn everything pink," Kaylee added.
"Ommmmmmm what?" Darcy asked.
"Ommmmmmm pink is cute," Kaylee explained.
"Ommmmmmm okay whatever," Darcy said.
The door opened and I turned to see Kal peeking in. He gave me a "really?" look and then shrugged, grabbed a candle, lit it, and sat down next to me. Kaylee and Darcy kept chanting while I glanced out of the corner of my eye to look at Kal. The candle light made all of the different shades of brown in his hair stand out. He was beautiful and he was staring right back at me. Shoot! I wipped my head back around and stared at the candle in front of me. I can't believe he caught me staring! Heck, I can't believe I was staring! Lori, calm yourself!
The door opened again, and this time it was Dax who was staring in. He took one look, shook his head, and said, "I really, really need new friends."
