Let's just assume that everything's FANDOM EDITION- because it is The Fandom Guide To Life...
It's a bunch of stereotypes, etc.
This is sort've as a joke because it might be slightly exaggerated or maybe it's 100% accurate. Comment if you can relate or if you live up to 'expectations'. (Live how you want to, don't let people set limits.) ~MExpectation- having a group of friends who at least don't mind you talking about your fandom or maybe are even in the fandom.
Reality- lonelier than a pringle because pringles are in stacks...Expectation- obviously: being able to watch every episode, food ready, no distractions (though nothing can distract you from your favourite show)
Reality- last minute road trip to a desolate place with zero wifi? but my favourite show is on...
OR omigods i cannot find any food in this house///what even///but i want popcorn///*finally sits down to watch the show after giving up on searching for food///why is there an airplane flying by? why can i hear that airplane? when did the neighbours get a dog? do i hear popcorn popping? WUT.Expectation- being the know it all in the fandom- the one who refreshes every second to catch the latest & greatest on all fandom.
Reality- why did nobody tell me that their new album is out? how did I not know they were together? when did that become canon? where did you even find this information?Expectation- running an amazing fandom blog that's popular and loved by many and just-goals
Reality- No activity. *Five hours later
No news. *1 day later Zero visitors
Zero likes, follows, comments, WAIT was that a follower, never mind...Here's an obvious one:
Expectation- Getting Sleep.
Reality- sleep is for the weak!!!
*next morning
Ugh I am so weak. It hurts-my eyes! They hurt! I want to go to sleep! *sobsExpectation- having money to, you know, buy stuff!
Reality- Ooh that looks so cool, maybe I can actually buy it. (in like a hundred years-pfft)... I found 5 cents under the couch. I had to crawl amongst the worst of the dustbunnies but I am officially 5 cents richer. Now, about finding my sister's piggy bank...
Too bad it's possible to have negative dollars. ._.Expectation- staying in your room forever but still being able to be cool around everyone else in social situations. (Though we know that's not gonna happen.)
Reality- don't make me leave! why?
oh hi I don't know you but I think you're in my class and no you probably haven't actually talked to me before but it's not because I'm never around, because I am and it's not that I'm invisible... Etc blah blah blah
OR is that a tree? I'm going to go hide over there.
Plain awkwardness.Expectation- being smart because you read books...
Reality- I might've read about this historic event but i don't actually remember because the OTP was too distracting. And sorry that I have horrible grammar. Yes I read but I don't actually talk so you know, everything just slips my mind. It's not like I read textbooks all day.Expectation- liking everything single genre of music just because you said "oh I love music."
Reality- "I love music, too! Do you like *insert artist/band? Because their music is amazing and have you heard their new song because you just have to hear it?"
"Uh no sorry, I haven't heard of them."
(Or maybe, "yeah, I've heard of them and their music is horrible-to me.")
((keepin' it respectful))Expectation- having Netflix, Nutella, being wrapped up in a blanket all of the time in sweat pants, wearing 'nerdy' glasses and liking sparkly unicorns
(Don't ask-these are jokes/stereotypes based on the internet)
Reality- however you really liveExpectation- reading all the popular or classic books, watching all the 'best' movies/shows, listening to the 'best' and most popular songs/shows or to at least know what they are, shipping the OTPs, loving the protagonists etc.
Reality- everyone in the fandom is different and are going to think different things and do different things. keep your chill and don't judge (words of wisdom)
Honestly, a book/show/movie starts as something ordinary until discovered and shared so it can't become popular unless someone does their own thing and discovers it.Expectation- at least 99% accurate cosplaying
Reality- it's actually sad how much people judge on cosplayers. Cosplayers do it for the love and that's what matters in reality. They put so much effort into it so it should not matter if their hair is a slightly different colour than the original or if they come up with their own version.Expectation- awesome fanfic that gives people the feels and is also updated often
Reality- As a writer: i'll update when i feel like it. I'd write horribly if I wasn't feeling it. I can't do that to my readers.
As a reader: all of these fanfics are the same because that's what we want to happen but I'm still going to read each one. Too bad no one has updated yet, though. The most recent is about 2 months ago.I'm going to end here because there are MANY stereotypes etc.
This was actually fun to write and was a last minute idea. Hope you like this, too!
