After two and a half hours in a plane we were in California, ready for anything. When we got off, Felix stood by my side. Just as we were waiting for our luggage to show on the converter belt, we saw 10 year old Ivana waiting alone for her own stuff. I walked over to her and knelt to her height.

"Ivana, is there anyone coming to pick you up?" Her eyes became a pool of fear and nerves.

"N-no. I came here alone.

"Where are your parents?"

"Its just me and daddy now. Mommy went into the clouds last year. Daddy is back home drinking his joy juice. He said he wouldn't care if I ever came back." Her eyes became lined with tears.

"Do you really think he means it? Maybe he just drank too much joy juice." I wiped the tears that fell and listened to her response.

"Well I think so. He hurts me a lot. He would always say, 'I don't give a rats..." She paused, not wanting to curse. She sighed and continued "about you. You could die in a shit hole for all I care." More tears fell from her eyes. I hugged her tightly and comforted her to the best of my ability. I look up and made eye contact with Felix. He walked over to us holding Stephano's baby carrier. I pulled away and Ivana turned to Felix.

"Hey, wanna see a trick?" Felix asked trying to lighten the mood. She nodded.

"Hold out your fist." She did as Felix had instructed her to.

Stephano lifted his fist to lightly brush hers. "B-brofist"

"Brofist" Ivana said smiling.

"Hey, can you watch him for a second, I need to ask Felix something." Ivana nodded and I pulled Felix to the side. After about 5 minutes of persuasion, I walked back to the two.

"How would you like to live with us?"
