After her unguarded, unabashed, honest response plattered on cold, emotionless sincerity, Tyler sat stunned. Mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. He didn't know how to react to a confession so genuine. Well, Wednesday never did sugarcoat or beat around the bush, and that was one of the things he'd always admired about her.
It took him a moment to digest the words. Let them sink into him, lodging somewhere under his ribs where he hadn't felt warmth or care in a long time.
Even after everything that had happened and went down, Wednesday still cared about him. And that information for some reason made Tyler relieved. He almost smiled, almost.
"Stop staring like an idiot and lie down. You'll tear the stiches if you keep sitting up."
Wednesday's scolding felt warmer now and Tyler obediently laid back down. As if it's in his instinct to follow her orders. Suddenly an idea struck him, before it could take root in his mind, he quickly shook it off.
He watched as Wednesday moved around the room, did her own work of linking the murders, she looked like a natural detective. Always the curious one, too nosy and sharp for anyone to get by causing trouble. This time Tyler couldn't resist the smile on his face. Old memories resurfacing and the Hyde in him felt calmer than it had months prior.
"Why are you smiling like you've perfectly mapped out my murder?"
Tyler startled at the sudden voice, cheeks heating up at getting caught. Wednesday still had her back to him, furiously typing away on her typewriter, the sound weirdly comforting.
"I- how did you-"
"I have eyes everywhere." She intervened, throwing a smirk over her shoulder.
Tyler zipped his mouth shut and just laid peacefully.

Surprisingly, in the past hours since Tyler had been staying in this dorm room, Wednesday hadn't left the room once. Tyler didn't know what to do with this information except the abrupt swell of his chest that made him smile to himself.
Wednesday had given him food, water and medicines, who knows how she managed all this to sneak in, and also a worn shirt that hid his nasty wounds.
Somewhere in between, Tyler dozed off again, only to awake later. It was dark outside, owls hooting in the far distance and the moon scattered its beams over the school in silver streaks.
Wednesday stood by the terrace railings, deep in thought. Mind jumbled and for the first time, she couldn't focus on a murder case whole-heartedly.
Tyler stepped out in the shirt only and shivered as cold wind nipped at his skin. He walked over and before he even opened his mouth, Wednesday turned around. Their eyes locked. Breaths stilled and for a moment, it seemed like no one else existed, not even the world.
"Wens." The nickname just fell without any restraint or hesitation, like a memory clawing up the well of emotions that once meant everything.
Wednesday's heart stuttered in her chest, fingers flexing uselessly by her sides as she felt a sudden burst of feelings, buried but not dead, swimming inside her.
Despite herself, her eyes glistened from unshed tears. Her lips parted to form some word, anything, but they were snatched right from her tongue as Tyler stepped close and claimed her lips in a passionate kiss.
A muffled sound vibrated, swallowed by the intense kiss. Wednesday's hands flew up to grip the front of his shirt, pulling him closer and in response, Tyler cradled her jaw firmer, deepening the kiss. His tongue, hot and demanding, licked over the seal of her lips, compelling her to part them in invitation.
Wednesday swore her heart had started pounding in her ears, too loud. Tyler's chest rumbled from the suppression of the beast that indulged in the flicker of passion all the same.
The kiss heated, heads angled to the side, tongues sliding and teeth clashing, and if spit dribbled down either of their chin, they didn't bother care about such trivial matter. Only fueled to kiss deeper, rougher, hungrier.
Tyler's hands slid down her body, stopping just at the curve of her thighs as he picked her up with ease. Startled, Wednesday snaked her arms around his neck, legs around his hips, a soft moan slipping past her lips from the new position. Heat surged down her spine, igniting fire in her veins as Tyler sat her on the cement railing, pressing in till every inch of their bodies were flushed, lips still tangled in a mess of chaos.
Only when their lungs burned in desperate need of air did they pull back, breaths ragged and cheeks flushed from both the tenacious kiss and the chilly wind.
"I- I still care about you too, Wens." Tyler's chest heaved as he sputtered the words out, foreheads touching and his hand still cradled her jaw, thumb swiping over the ghostly pale skin tinged with slight pink. "I still like you. N-No Hyde, no master, nothing could ever make me not want you, Wednesday Addams."
Wednesday felt the swoon straight to her heart, a full on grin spreading over her kiss-swollen lips, dimples denting the cheeks. Tyler gasped, matching the grin with cheekiness.
"Did I just get the infamous Wednesday smile? Wait. Does that make me a special person? Wow."
"Shut up." She smacked his arm but pulled him in for another kiss anyway. It was softer now, sweeter, pouring the unspoken feelings in the press of their lips. Neither could stop smiling into the kiss, melting in each other.
Wednesday pulled back a little, lips still brushing and breaths still mingling.
"You've always been someone special, Tyler. Never forget that."
When Tyler kissed her again, and carried her back inside the room, to the cramped bed where they didn't fit but love did, Wednesday only succumbed to him like she'd always do. Because Hyde or not, Tyler was it for her.
The End...
