I looked up at the doctor, frightened. He looked at me hesatating to tell me what the problem was. I braced myself for the tears that came next.
"Um.....May....I'm so sorry......" he trailed.
"W-w-what is it?" I asked scared and at that moment I felt someone sit next to me on the bed and kiss my cheek. But there was no one there.
"Eli, didn't survive the surgery...." He said slowly. I grabbed my sheets and tears ran down my face not stopping. My only thing that meant most to me was gone. Then a looked down at my neckalace and i saw it gleam. Then I saw him standing in the corner of the room, he was faded but I could make him out. He slowly walked up to my bed and wrapped his arms around me. He whispered in my ear. "I love you May. I will always be here." I started bawling as he faded away smiling.
"Why!!!!????" I screamed "WHY!?!?!"
"Calm down!!" the doctor yelled as my heart monitor started beeping really fast. 3 Nurses came running in and tied me down to the bed. I finally stop wriggling and they untied me. Tears run down my face.
"Why did he have to die?" I whispered.
"There were to many cancerous cells. They had taken over his body, we were just to late." He said quietly.
After 3 days of healing, they let me go home. Every night I was in the hospital Eli's figure slept next to me and my neckalace gleamed. I could hear him whispering "Be strong May, I love you." Once I got home, I cryed in my room. I called out to Eli and saw my neckalce gleam again. There he was smiling at me from my doorway. "Its alright May." He said. I smiled and his figure walked over to me.
"Why can I see you?" I asked him.
"Because of your neckalce, and your faith." He smiled and then he faded away. I grabbed my Tangelo and played slowly.
