Quick Author's Note

Several readers got confused about the last two chapters' messy povs. I felt that I needed to expand on the main perspective of Amiya, Ch'en, Talulah, and Patriot. They were all major characters during Arknight's first major arc. Since I plan to incorporate most of them as central characters in the future, I wanted to expand their powers and characters more during their arc.

I'll try to lessen the confusing povs now.

=== TALULAH ===

Maybe there was hope...

Talulah could see Kaschey struggle to keep the fight up with the injuries inflicted on her body. She could feel the pain, but she wasn't the person forcing herself to fight after receiving a large gash in the side.

She inwardly hissed as Kaschey jerked her body this way and that. Somehow, he was able to push through the pain and move around fluidly. Though, the same cannot be said for her power. It was wavering and Kaschey looked like he didn't have the means to deal with it.

"TALULAH!!!"

Someone's roar filled the air. Kaschey glanced up and released a grim chuckle.

"About time...I was thinking when you'd appear."

Talulah gritted her teeth. This monster had no right to use her body that way. Yet...there was nothing worse she could think he'd do. The amount of death and tragedy Kaschey had done was irredeemable.

"Surrender. You are surrounded." Those words came from the hulking figure of Patriot as he reached within calling distance of her.

"You're right...there is no point fighting any longer." Kaschey reluctantly gave up. Talulah's attack on him had rocked Talulah's body more than he'd like. Her power was all over the place and Kaschey was alone against seven- possibly more- enemies. Much worse when they were especially powerful ones. He slowly raised his arms up, indicating his surrender.

Nobody believed him. The two white-haired fighters held their distance. Patriot slowed down, but took his position squarely in front of the duo. Talulah kept herself the furthest, but within talking distance. Kaschey glanced over at the last two combatants further away. FrostNova and that young Cautus leader of Rhodes Island kept watch from afar, probably puzzled at the lull in combat. The last girl with black hair was very far away to see clearly, but she hadn't moved any closer. Still, Kaschey kept an eye on her. Of everyone there, she had shown the greatest threat to disrupting his magic.

Patriot stared at her. He took a step forward while pulling out the unusual purple dagger Shirou left him. He remembered when the archer told him to cut Talulah with it, something which he should've done earlier. It was his mistake that led to all this trouble.

...but Kaschey wasn't going to let that happen again.

The sound of a sword unsheathing froze everyone.

Kaschey smiled, laying the sword right next to his neck.

"Get closer...and we shall find out what happens next."

His eyes moved across the four enemies in front of him. He gauged their reactions. They were the closest and the ones who could physically deal with him. The unknown girl with Ch'en dealt with his arts, while Amiya and FrostNova were too far away.

The two white-haired combatants didn't show much reaction. They continued to stay on guard. Patriot's expression furrowed slightly, not much changed with him. It was the last person that Kaschey found a weakness he could exploit. Ch'en's face was horrified as she stood frozen, watching Kaschey hold a blade to her sister's neck.
