Research. The study of magecraft was the crux for most magi. Shirou, Rin, and Sakura have dabbled in the pursuit of knowledge at some point or another. As members of the Clocktower, working with others was to be expected. Different fields, different skills, different knowledge. It was all about how both sides could advance their magecraft to reach the Root of all Magic- Akasha.
If you ignored all the political maneuvering involved.
At least working to cure Oripathy was straightforward. Rin didn't have to deal with Clocktower departments triple checking work to verify she wasn't breaking the rules put in place.
Shirou stood on the side while Rin performed their usual treatment process on an operator. Shining insisted she and Nightingale see how they treated patients directly. For safety concerns, they asked the test be done on RI operators first before they repeated the same procedure on RI patients.
The reason was sound. Most of the patients on Rhodes Island were those who could afford the treatment. Infected family members of rich politicians and businessmen. Important nobles. People with connections. Rhodes Island had the most cutting edge technology when it came to treating Oripathy. Very few could afford paying premium for such service.
It was exactly for this reason that spies from all nations infiltrated the pharmaceutical organisation. To keep track of any possible dealings that could be done under RI's protective umbrella. It was expected that liaisons from different Terran countries would use RI's neutral harbor as a hub for backroom deals for and against their rivals. Opposing political factions. Business competitors. Exiled royals.
The appearance of three new doctors would soon be noticed if they weren't already. Shining was confident Ch'en Huichieh's presence aboard Rhodes Island would have those agents reporting updates to superiors who would reach out to feelers on Lungmen about why the favoured niece of Lungmen's chief executive was not working in the LGD.
As Kal'tsit ordered, the research with the three Fuyuki Clinic doctors should be kept hidden for as long as possible.
"That's not Originium Arts."
"It's not?" The small feline operator watched with great wonder as the dark rock composed of Originium broke off her body.
"Doctor Rin certainly doesn't use any Originium or my device reading is incorrect."
Shirou checked out the equipment before the start of the test. It was highly sensitive to Originium particles. While not enough to read blood infection, it could catch any activity from exposed Originium.
"You're right. We don't use Arts." Sakura nodded while wrapping a clean robe around their current patient after Rin finished treating her. "I hope that isn't a problem?"
"If it was Originium Arts, then it would've been easier to understand how it worked and attempt to replicate the treatment. From there we could've hypothesized a way for RI to recreate the process through machines." Shining explained while tapping the pen to her clipboard. "Since it's specifically your type of Arts- whatever it is- we'll have to rely more on your side until we understand how you do it. Your submitted report of the process lacks vital explanations like how you are able to "cycle" such small Originium particles inside a patient's body along other steps."
Shirou grunted. This was the crux of the matter. While magi like them were used to manipulating internal Od from the body and external Mana from the environment to create usable Prana to manifest spells, they lacked information about Terra's Originium Arts. For one, if they were considering that Originium was an external source required to perform Arts, then only Infected with a degree of Originium contaminating the body could possibly learn to manipulate Originium to cycle out their own contamination. Even then, it wasn't complete. Some Originium particles had become embedded into organs that cycling them out meant being ripped from organic tissues which could damage said vital organs. The risk of death was high if Originium particles in something like the heart or the lungs were removed.
