Chapter 10 - Unexpected

Why? Why is he here?? Has he been looking for me this whole time?

I wasn't going to turn around, but the moment I heard Rodie's voice, I had to look. Make sure my ears weren't playing tricks on me. She has to explain this to me:

"Thanatos, what are you doing here?"

"I should be the one asking you that, Rodie" - There was a smile on his face - "I'm just here looking for my dear partner" - He looked me in the eyes, now that I had turned around

"Partner.." - Rodie looked at me, her eyes trembling

Shit. I had lost all control of the situation. I have NO IDEA what's going on. Does the two of them know each other? How? And how much does Thanatos know?

I hate that little smile on his face, like he already knows everything.

"You two look alike... is she your sister, by any chance?"

I couldn't hide my expression, I hated having to see his face:

"Yes" - She looked at him, she seemed uncomfortable

Phew, I don't know why I suspected Rodie. She would never betray me:

"Funny" - But that damn smile didn't leave Thanatos' face - "As far as I know, Plumm is an orphan"

He knew already. He was just messing with me. I could kill him right there, everything would start all over again. But before that, I need to know what the relationship between the two of them is. Okay, enough pretending:

"Thanatos" - I finally opened my mouth, looking him in the eyes - "things won't be the way you want"

"Ah, you finally answered me! Are you tired of playing the rebellious teenager?"

That's right, this Thanatos has never seen my true face. He still thinks I'm innocent and silly.

"How do you two know each other?" - I looked at Rodie, serious

But she didn't answer me, she just looked away:

"Not going to talk?" - He had a little smile - "then I'll say..."

"No." - She replied, angrily - "..Plumm... don't listen to what that lunatic says"

"I know, Rodie" - I smiled - "believe it or not, I know him a lot more than I'd like"

She frowned, confused. I think she's as lost as I am:

"He and I were teammates. He's the one I ran away from"

"Ran away? You abandoned Élenkos!"

"As if dignity matters to you. You abandoned your morals just to follow what those disgusting people tell you."

How funny, in the end, Rodie and I were even more similar than I'd imagined. As much as I agree that Thanatos is a lunatic, if Rodie ran away because of that... what made him change?

"Hah. You're still as insufferable as ever"

"And you're a lunatic. I won't let you take Plumm!"

"Have the years made you senile? Have you forgotten that I'm still stronger than you?"

"If you want to believe that.."

I appreciate Rodie's concern, but this discussion is pointless. I'll just kill Thanatos once I have the information I need:

"Thanatos" - I said, still staring at him - "what does she mean by abandoning your morals?"

"Plumm??? Why do you want to hear anything from this guy?"
