Imagine getting bored during a rainstorm and dancing in it with TWF.
You lean your chin on your hand and stare out the dark window of the musty motel room. Behind you, Sam, Dean, and Castiel talk avidly about the current case but you tune them out. All their stressing won't help the situation. They need to take a break and think it through properly, but they're too stubborn to take your advice.
Instead, you sit...at the window...staring into the dark parking lot. Your bored reflection shines back at you and you watch the boys behind you.
Sam slouches back in his chair, tired and frustrated. Dean shouts something at Cas and runs his hands through his hair. Castiel sighs in anguish at the boys' inability to understand the consequences. Anger seems to fill the room and suffocate all its inhabitants.
You hear at tap on the window and your eyes focus beyond the reflection and to the window itself. A drop of water trickles down the smooth glass surface and pools up on a ledge at the bottom. Another drop falls onto the window, followed by another and another. Soon the window pane is speckled with water droplets that run serenely down the glass surface.
The rain quickens and the window becomes blurred with water and the glass lights up with lightning. The flash is followed by a short roll of heart-vibrating thunder.
"And now it's raining! Unbelievable," Dean says. He never seemed to hate the rain but on a bad night like this, the last thing he wanted was rain.
Finally, the frustration hanging thick in the air becomes too much and you stand abruptly. Barefooted, you sneak to the door, slip outside, and close it softly behind you.
The cold wet ground greets the skin of your feet and the plump raindrops tickle your scalp. You step into the parking lot and look up to the sky with your arms held above your head.
The dark clouds swirl in the sky, releasing its rain onto the thirsty earth. The drop splatter on your face and run down your neck, soaking your clothes.
The door opens and clicks shut as someone comes out to join you. You watch as Dean lumbers slowly to meet you in the center of the parking lot.
"Nice weather, isn't it?" he shouts over another roll of thunder.
You smile and nod, "The best kind."
He stands beside you and stares forwards, into the darkness. "I guess we scared you away."
You look down at your toes, now submerged in a puddle reflecting the street lamps. "I just needed a break. You guys need one too. You need to put this case aside for a moment and stop to smell the roses once in awhile."
"You a fan of the rain?"
You smile and look up at him. "When I was little I used to go outside every time there was a single drop of rain. I never missed one storm. I just loved the way the drops fell between the hairs on my head and cooled my scalp. My mom used to come out and we'd dance like crazy people to imaginary music."
"Are you going to perform the 'Singing in the Rain' routine for us then?"
You laugh. "If you so please."
Then the door opened again and Sam and Castiel come outside. Dean ignores them and begins to hum the tune of 'Singing in the Rain'. He holds your hands and begins to move them to the tune. You move your feet and start to sing the words softly. Then he twirls you around and passes you to Sam.
He laughs and begins to dance with you. You sway your hips to the tune and sing louder. Dean sings along with you as he dances around Cas who stands, confused in his oversized trench coat.
You break off from Sam when both you and Dean have forgotten how the rest of the song goes. Instead, Dean picks his favorite Led Zepplin song that both you and Sam can sing along to.
The three of you jump up and down as if you were in a rock concert and Sam bang his head in the air. Dean rocks the air guitar and even Cas can't stand still for long and gives in to the rhythm.
Then when Sam tried to pick a song, you and Dean disagree with his sissy choice and Dean starts singing 'Smoke on the Water'. You laugh at his choice and sing along as you dance.
Finally, when you're all out of breath and drained of all energy, everyone heads inside. Thankfully the boys are all to exhausted to argue with each other anymore and settle into bed. Castiel says he'll return in the morning and disappears.
That night, you lay in bed and drift off to the sound of rain pattering on the roof and 'Smoke on the Water' playing in your head.
