Imagine Dean being able to bend fire and you meeting him for the first time as a waterbender. (Avatar: The Last Airbender/ The Legend of Korra crossover)
You wrap your arms around yourself with a shiver as you walk through the alleyways of Republic City. Steam filters up from man holes and with a simple hand movement, you waft the steam to surround you. For a moment, you feel warmer but the steam eventually disappears into the air.
You speed up your walking pace, passing the backs of brick buildings and dumpsters. Finally, you reach the end of the alley, coming out onto a street you don't recognize.
A single car whizzes by, lighting up the old abandoned buildings that line the street. You follow the car with your eyes, hoping to find something that rings a bell. Instead you come face to face with a ball of fire.
You jump back slightly, and a man grins from behind the light.
"Didn't mean to scare you," he says, lowering the fire to illuminate his face. He has short sandy hair and light skin dotted with freckles. His smile reaches across his face and his eyes glitter happily.
"Well, you did," you reply, annoyed.
"I'm Dean," he says and shakes your hand with his own, putting out the fire just seconds before.
"Y/n." His hand is warm against yours and you feel the heat trickle up your arm.
Although, he seems to feel the opposite from you. He shivers slightly, pulling his hand back without losing his grin. "Your hand's cold. Here."
He ignites the fire on his hand again and lets you huddle around it. The two of you sit on the step of an old book shop and talk.
"Where you headed?" he asks.
"Well I was on my way home from work, but now I don't know where I am."
He chuckles. "I can walk you home if you want."
"Can you just take me to Main Street? I can get home from there."
"Sure thing." The two of you stand up and walk side by side, Dean's fire illuminating the way.
"Where do you work?" He asks.
"I have my own restaurant. You?"
"I assemble cars at Future Industries."
"Do you like working in a factory?"
"Are you kidding? Cars are the peanut butter to my jelly. I wish I could invent new cars like Asami Sato."
"Yeah, I think most people want to be like her."
You stare at the ground, watching your feet walk down the street beside Dean's boot covered feet. Before this, you didn't even know this part of Republic City existed.
"I don't know if this is rude or straight forward, but are you a bender?" Dean asks.
"Oh, it's fine. Yes, I do bend water."
He nods, holding back a smile. "I guess that's not very useful when you're cold."
"Well, that's why I have you," you joke, bumping your elbow against his arm.
"Dean Winchester, at your service," he says with a slight nod.
"Winchester? That's your surname, huh?"
He shrugs. "Yeah, why?"
"I feel like I recognize it. Do you happen to know a Sam Winchester?"
"Long brown hair? About yay high?" he asks, raising a hand over his head.
"That's the guy."
"Yup. He's my little brother."
"Little?"
"You should have seen him in high school. Shortest kid around. How do you know him?"
I laugh, "Sam's probably my best customer. Very talkative and kind."
Dean places his free hand on his chest in mock pain, "I'm surprised he never mentioned me. What's your restaurant?"
"Republic City Bakery."
"A bakery?" he says, his eyes lighting up with excitement, "You didn't mention it being a bakery. Do you serve pie?"
With a giggle, you say, "Yeah all kinds of flavors. You should stop by sometime; I'll give you some for free."
"Awesome. I'll definitely take you up on that." He looks up and points to the street sign. "Here we are. Main Street."
"Oh, I guess I will see you later. Thanks."
"See ya, Y/n," Dean grins, giving you a salute as you part ways. Spinning on your heel, you watch him walk away, the light of his fire reflecting off the wet pavement.
With a quick glance over his shoulder, Dean shoots you his signature grin before disappearing into another side alley.
A/n: I hope you like crossovers because I have a few coming soon that are scattered among the usual stuff.
