One month later

That summer had been speeding by. I had started warming up to Sam. He was not as bad as I thought. We texted and Skyped frequently. Shelby and I did not hang out as much, but we were still close. Jennette started coming over often. Kara and I hadn't hung out yet, but we were very good friends. Alex and I remained remarkably close, going on more adventures than ever before. Daniel? Daniel and I were perfect. However, I tried to ignore the unfortunate, inevitable fact that time was slipping faster than butter on my hands in the summer.

"Goal!!!!" Daniel cheered. Jennette, Daniel, and I were playing soccer on Jennette's lawn.

"Ughhhh!" I exaggerated my anger. Picking up the ball, I looked to Jennette with a sinister grin. I looked down at the ball and threw it in the air. I swung my foot back and kicked the ball across the lawn. It flew in the air and rolled all the way to the net. Of course, with my luck, the ball stopped right before the net.

"Hahahaha!!!" Daniel laughed histerically. I rolled my eyes. He traveled all the way over to me. When he reached me, he dodged to my right. I grabbed his waist, not allowing him to go any further. He bent forward and continued trucking along.

"Ahhh!!! Daniel, stop it!!" I screeched, slapping his back. He moved faster, as if my words encouraged him. Genuine determination filled his facial expression. Jennette came around me, kicking the ball out of Daniel's reach from behind. I let Daniel go. I turned around and began running toward Daniel's net. Daniel grabbed my waist. The only difference between when I grabbed him and he grabbed me was instead of being dragged by me, he swooped me up. I kept moving my legs as if my feet were still planted on the ground.

"Mother-" I stopped myself, prying my body off of his. He kept a serious facial expression, his lips pressed tightly together. I kept a frustrated one. Jennette made a goal and my facial expression was altered from frustration to pride. I stopped moving my legs and threw my arms in the air. Daniel looked up at me, still holding onto my waist.

"Wooohooooo!!!!!" Jennette screamed.

"Ba da bing! Ba da bang!" I said, making a gun with my hands. Daniel rolled his eyes and dropped me. I yelped. I fell on my butt. I started laughing histerically.

"Good game," Jennette said, high fiving Daniel.

"Whatever," he said through his smirk.

"Alright, I gotta go. I got softball," I said.

"Baseball," Daniel said, raising his arm.

"All right, bye you two," Jennette said.

"Bye, gorgeous," I said, hugging her. Daniel waved out the window of the car. Daniel and I had games on the same day. His games were always after mine so we went and cheered each other on every game. I thought it was cute. I cheered him on in my uniform and he cheered me on in his and we both showed up together, ready to play.

"Your house?" Daniel asked.

"Yeah, might as well," I said. We went to my house so I could change into my uniform. Within five minutes we were out the door again.

"Your house?" I asked.

"Yeah, might as well," he said. Daniel drove to his house and changed into his uniform. Within 15 more minutes, we were at the fields.

"Alright, good luck. I love you," Daniel said, giving me a peck on the cheek.

"I love you too," I said through a smile. I turned and walked away. Daniel slapped my butt as I left. I turned around giving him a dirty look. He put his hands in the air and gave me a fake expression of surprise. I rolled my eyes. I spent the rest of the night playing on a field and sitting on a bleacher, staring at the absolute love of my life. However, that did not take my mind off the fact that I had

month.

S: hey, you should come over

M: u serious?

S: lol yes

M: oh ok. sure

I proceeded to Sam's house. It was the first time we had ever hung out. I was actually kind of excited and honestly extremely nervous.

"I don't know," I said, laying on his couch.

"You'll be fine," He assured me. I was telling him about Stanford.

"Maybe I should just stay home. Go somewhere near Houghton, maybe." Sam blew out smoke from the hookah pen in his hand.

"Yeah, like there are any schools good enough for you near Houghton. Plus, I think you're gonna do fine wherever you go."

"Thanks, Sam."

"You're welcome." The rest of the time was spent listening to rap and talking about everything that had been going on with Jennette and Charlie and Kara and Sam. I had always liked Kara and Sam together, but he swore there was nothing there. It was sweet. Sam talked to me about relationships and so did Kara. Jennette talked to me about them a lot, as well. I liked it, watching people fall for one another. I liked watching the struggle and the fight for love. That meant, no matter how little, something beautiful was there. My friends' fight to find love always brought me back to Daniel. It always brought me back to the first day of chemistry, before I was in love. Because, in reality, that was the best part. Waiting. Looking at someone and not knowing that in two months you would be insuperable. Not knowing that in two weeks, they would mean more to you than your own life.

"I gotta get going," I said to Sam.

"Alright," he responded. He walked me to the door and gave me a hug. I walked out and he shut the door. I stopped, turning my head over my shoulder, ever so slightly. A smirk appeared on my face. I chuckled and shook my head. That boy.

-------------------------------------------------------Well, Sam and Marie? Friends? Daniel and Marie are still perfect, but she has a decision on her hands. What is she going to do?

I need to thank you all for supporting me.
