"Another victory for the Luna!" Marvel announced as soon as I won my last match. I helped my opponent, a very muscular man, get to his feet but he didn't meet my eyes.
I had faced fifteen opponents and remained undefeated.
People surrounded me, introducing themselves and congratulating me on my new ranking.
But there many others who glared down at me and turned away.
The fights took a lot out of me. My body was sore but I still had some fight in me. I could feel a burst of energy in my system. I felt happy and proud that I could fight werewolves.
Maybe they'd see me more as an equal.
Blake was the last to come over. "That was amazing! Where did you learn to fight like that?" He hollered and I smiled, blushing from the attention.
"I don't know. That was the first time I did anything like that." It was the truth, I was inexperienced.
I guess it's in my genes.
"Impressive. It must be the power of the Luna." Blake made a humming noise.
"What do you mean the power of the Luna?"
"You know, Luna's are stronger than other wolves." He told me. "They're the ones who protect the pack."
I didn't realize that the pack relied on me so much. From the way they acted, I always thought they didn't need me.
I felt a chill moving towards us and turned around to see Ares.
"Alpha," Blake's character changed as he bowed and took a step back to leave us alone. "See you at dinner," He said to me and I waved goodbye.
I turned to face Ares, a little unsure of what he wanted. He was so handsome it almost hurt to look at him.
"It seems you have the strength of a Luna." He observed and I frowned. That's all he was going to say to me? No congratulations or a simple praise?
"Yes, I guess so." I replied curtly, a little disappointed.
"How's your face?" Ares asked suddenly and I almost forgot.
I carefully touched my cheek and it stung a little bit. Leah had a strong hook.
During my first fight, I was punched in the face. But I made sure that that was the last time anyone hit my face.
"It's fine. Does it look okay?" I asked nervously, hoping it didn't look bad. I hoped it wasn't bruising or anything.
Ares grabbed the side of my face in his rough hand and my heart almost stopped. He turned my head to the side and I tried to slow down my heart beat.
I could hear it pounding in my ears.
He ran his hands along my cheek, his eyes darkening. He let my face go and shook his head, turning to look at the trees.
