"Please don't hurt me!" I blurted as he set me down in the back of his car

"Please don't hurt me!" I blurted as he set me down in the back of his car. He didn't meet my eyes.

The door shut and I realized someone else was already in the passenger seat.

A blond head turned to greet me and he was almost as beautiful as the other one. Almost. He was model-level gorgeous with tan skin and healthy hair, which I knew would have Tasha swooning. But there was something about the other one, with eyes as cold as ice, that pulled me in.

"How's it going?" I was caught off guard by his friendly tone.

"Who are you?" I asked instead. He was about to answer but the one in the driver's seat grabbed his shoulder so he'd face forward.

Both returned to silence.

The car started and he stepped firmly on the accelerator, making me jerk backwards.

We got on the highway and I wondered where on earth they were taking me. I watched as the trees blurred by and noticed that we were in the lane heading north. We weren't staying in this state.

My curiosity was killing me. "Where are we going?"

The driver, the one with the blue eyes, didn't answer me but the blond one did.

"The pack of course." He said and I've decided that he was much kinder than the other one.

"Pack? What does that mean?" Was that another term for the place they kept their victims? I shivered.

That made them go silent again and I hated silence. The only sound was the roar of the engine.

The blue-eyed one spoke first.

"You don't know." It wasn't a question, it was a statement. I was beyond confused.

"Don't know what?"

But they didn't answer me. I was getting tired of all this secrecy. I wanted to demand them to take me home but they scared me, especially after they fought my friends and family.

And something about them seemed. . . off. The way their eyes glowed and even they way they looked. And why did they break into my home and kidnap me? Were they insane?

I leaned my head on the window and closed my eyes. I missed my parents. I missed my friends. I didn't want to be here.

The car ride was so surprisingly peaceful that my eyelids fell on their own. I knew it wasn't safe to go to sleep with two complete strangers in the car but my body was exhausted from the ride. The rocking motion and high speeds of ninety miles per hour didn't help either.

Some birthday I was having.

Low voices woke me from my nap. It didn't take long for me to realize that they were talking about me.

"She doesn't know, Blake."

"She will and then she'll understand."

"She's afraid of me."

Silence filled the empty void. I tried to stay awake to find out exactly what they were talking about but I had a hard time following.

"We'll just slowly. . . and carefully. . . break the news."

"And if she rejects me?"

I wasn't sure which voice belonged to who since I was half awake. They spoke again but it was too muted for me to hear.

The hum of the engine made me feel sleepy again and I struggled to stay awake.

"She won't." It was the last thing I heard until I fell into an endless sleep.

Time passed. I blinked three times to see if I had been dreaming or not.

It was real.

Judging from the gentle glow of the sun, I figured it was late morning. My door was wide open which let the cool breeze hit my face.

Anxiety hit me full force and I shot up from my sleeping position. I looked to the front of the car but they weren't there. Where were they? Should I make a run for it?

Then I finally heard some voices. I peeked my head out the back window and saw five figures. I could barely make out a few words.

". . . pack will be pleased with her arrival. . . is she ready for. . ."

"No. . . doesn't know about us. . ."

". . . need to see what her skills are. . . need to know her. . ."

They were talking about me.

The driver's seat was empty now. I saw the keys still in the ignition. How long would it take for them to realize I wasn't there? Would they even notice?

I swallowed my fear and decided to confront the strangers who popped out of nowhere and kidnapped me from my home.

My heart hammered like a hummingbird's wings when I stood up and slowly walked to the back of the car.

Five pairs of eyes stared at me.

"Who are you?" I asked nervously.

None of them spoke, just studied me. I could feel the cold winter glare the blue-eyed one was giving me but I tried to ignore it.

"Who are you? Why did you kidnap me?" I repeated more strongly, gathering my courage even though I was terrified.

"We'll tell you everything when we get inside." The blond haired boy told me. Oh no, they were taking me inside their lair.

"Inside?" I blurted and turned to see what they were staring at.

It was a huge castle. It was about ten times the size of my house and blended in with the surrounding pine trees. The castle was very tall, built with bricks the color of charcoal, with green vines climbing up the walls. It looked old but still as charming.

Woods were on all sides of the castle, stretching for miles.

No way.

I gulped. "That's your house?" More like a miniature kingdom.

"Let's go," The blue-eyed one wasted no time and began to walk up the stone stairs. I felt a rush of fear run through but for some reason, it was balanced by an invisible anchor.

Something was making me feel calm.

I unwillingly took my place behind the others and looked back, not knowing if this was the last time I saw my freedom for a long time.
