Yona and I had finally calmed down as we walked to to the pirate ship where I was greeted by a very excited crew. I smiles at them talking with them as they flooded me with questions that was until I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked over my shoulder to see Hak.
"We need to talk." He said sternly. I raised a brow and nodded waving away the now sulking crewmen as I walked with Hak off the ship. A uncomfortable silence feel between us as the sound of crunching leaves seamed to echo.
We walked through the forest until we came upon a large rock. Hak stopped in front of the rock and sat down I slowly walked over to the rock and sat beside him. "Hak?" I called leaning my head against his arm and looking up at him. He looked down at me telling me I had his attention.
"Why'd you call me out here?" I ask looking away from him to examine a near by birds nest. I smiled lightly, watching the baby birds excitedly squirm around as their mother returned.
"You worried everyone sick." He said suddenly causing the mood to instantly changed as my eyes widened. Tears pooled in my eyes but I fought them off refusing to allow myself to be so quick to tears. "I know." I replied my voice betraying me as it crackled. "You can't keep playing the hero." He continued. I bite my lip holding back cries.
I knew he was just trying to make me see that I was going about things the wrong way. Even so it didn't make his words sting any less. The phrase "sticks and stones can brake my bones but words you say can't hurt me." Came to mind. Who ever came up with that phrase was dead wrong.
I forced a smile on my face. "I refuse to give up. I may get hurt, I may brake, I may shatter, but some things are worth the pain." Is all I said as I got up from the rock and walked toward the ship leaving behind a surprised and no doubt frustrated Hak.
I returned to the ship to find no one on deck. "What the heck..." I mumbled under my breath. I slowly went to the captains counters and put my ear to the thick wooden door.
"Human Trafficking?" I am heard Yona echo. My eyes widen and a shiver runs down my spin. Why are they talking about such a thing! I closed my eyes putting all my concentration on the conversation going on inside. "Mostly woman and children." I heard Jea-Ha add bitterly. "But slavery is illegal in this country." Yun protested the sound off a hand slamming against something followed.
"That's not their only goal. With the forces they've gathered, they must intend to crush up, the pirates who had opposed them for years." Gigan's voice said. My heart began to race as I heard this, so much I feared that it could be heard on the other side of the door. "Let's hit them first!" Suggested an pirate. "Don't be hastily. If we brawl at Port Awa, the residents will be caught in the crossfire." Gigan scolded.
The sound of crinkling paper followed "So we'll attack Kumji's ships here, in the ocean between Awa and their likely trading partner, the Kai Empire." Gigan continued as the sound of her pipe tapping against paper filled the air.
We're going to attack Kumji? "The question is when, and how, they'll act and which of the ships the woman will be on." Jea-Ha said. This is crazy, how did this happen so quickly? "Yes. Kumji will likely use the people he is selling as hostages, so we mustn't acted recklessly." Gigan agreed. I gritted my teeth as I dug my claws into the wood of the door.
We're going to fight. Until now I had no idea what that meant. What was at risk. "Is there anyway to secure the woman safely?" Gija's asked. I looked at the wooden imagining Yona, Yun, Shin-Ha, Jea-Ha and anyone else who was behind there. All those people where going to fight. They're were going to put there life on the line.
I knew that all along that they were willing to take such a risk if the circumstances were right. I had just never imagined that, that day should come. It angered me. More then I thought posable. "But it's an important deal isn't Kumjii likely to be there himself? Wouldn't it be faster to ding their leader and secure him?" Asked an voice from inside.
Suddenly the sound of footsteps could be heard. Realizing that it was coming from behind me somewhere I spun around and rushed to the nearest hiding spot. Which just happened to be a barrel of rum. I gaged at the smell as I spotted Hak. Looking as if he was trying to calm down march into the room.
I stayed behind the barrel the rest of the time catching a word or two but lose bring close enough where I could still understand what was going on. Once the meeting ended and everyone had left the room and gone to there sleeping courters I still remained behind the barrel.
I couldn't believe what I had heard. We we're going to fight, with little info, few men, against ships full of enemy's. One thing I was positive about but, I would do everything in my power to win this fight. Everything.
