I sat in one of six chairs surrounding the round table. Next to me on my right was Soo-Won and on my left was the man he had mentioned before, Mundok. He was an old man with white hair a mustache and beard. On his right eyelid a scar rested. I assumed the injury leading to his scar permanently damaged his eye because not once had he opened it in the half hour I sat next to him.
Across from me was the person I was pretty sure was the Earth Tribe general, Lee Geun-Tae. He had yellow like brown eyes and a proud smirk. His long brown hair currently up in a pony tail that framed his sharp features. It was clear to me he was a man of war the few scars visible shown clear proof of my theory. To Geun-Tea's left was An Joon-Gi the General of the Water Tribe. His eyes remained closed a calm expression on his face that blended perfectly with his light blue robes. His appearance alone screamed water tribe.
To Geun-Tea's right was Kan Soo-Jin. The Fire Tribes General. His serious expression gave the room a stiff tension as his stern eyes carefully examined each and every person at the table including me. As my eyes meet his I couldn't help but sit up and check my poster feeling as if I had something to prove to him. His grey hair pulled back in a pony tail and mustache reviled his true age. This only caused me to be more nervous, who knows how much he's learned over the years? Even though I had done my best to look somewhat like I somewhat belonged irritation was clear on his face.
"Would someone please tell me why a child is here!" Soo-Jin demanded Turing to Soo-Won demanding an explanation as all eyes seemed to turn to me. I shrunk under their stairs looking down at the table suddenly fascinated with its smooth wood surface. "She's a child I rescued from human trafficking. I've decided to look after her since her parents have sadly passed away and she has no where to go." Soo-Won explained.
"People die, and human trafficking takes place all over this country. Many children are in similar situations. I don't see why this little girl gets special treatment." Soo-Jin said bluntly giving me an disgusted look. "These matter aren't for children, leave." He commanded me. As his words reached me my attention was immediately directed toward him.
"Excuse me?" I questioned angrily. "You heard me, leave." I scowl causing Soo-Jin to furrow his brows in frustration. "Last I checked I don't follow your orders. I don't care if your a general!" I snapped my anger clouding my judgment. As I said this Geun-Tea's smirk widened and a small chuckle escaped his lips.
Soo-Won gave a nervous smile trying to stop the bickering between me and the Fire Tribes general but I refused to back down, not to the likes of him. I never liked the Fire Tribe to begin with they were to aggressive and to easy to anger. "I demand respect!" Soo-Jin growled glaring at me as he slammed a hand down on the table the other four members of the meeting watching intently.
"Well, your not getting it here." The only response I received back was and disapproving scowl. "Besides I wasn't even born on Fire Tribe soil. I have the Earth Tribe to thank for that." I continued. At the mention of the Earth Tribe Geun-Tea cleared his throat making the fact I was born on his land seem more important then it really was.
Soo-Jin turned to Soo-Won angrily. "Control the child you brought!" He orders sharply. Soo-Won rose his hand into the air in peace. "Sorry, Soo-Jin but I can't control her thoughts." He answered a smirk curling his lips.
Soo-Jin turned back to me clearly still angry I said nothing to him I just shot his a smirk. After that I think he lost it. He started scolding me on behavior and respect as I ignored him.
The other generals and Soo-Won cupped their mouths in attempt to muffle their laughter. No one succeeded. I guess that was the final straw for Soo-Jin. "I have other businesses to attend to! We'll continued this next time!" He announced marching out of the room. Once the door shut behind him the room burst into laughter.
I walked over to Soo-Won. "Your Welcome." I teased giving him a sheepish grin. "What do you mean?" He questioned. "No one likes meetings. So I figured I'd just annoy Soo-Jin until he left. The meetings done and you didn't have to work." I explained. As I said this the Earth Tribes General Geun-Tea walks over to me trapping me in place as he wrapped an single arm around my neck managing not to hurt me.
He pointed a finger at me a large grin on his face. "I like how this kids thinks! She's clearly from the Earth Tride! Good going, Kid! I don't think I've seen
Soo-Jin that mad since the war! Now that was some crazy times !" He informed. As he did this I stiffened. I mean how would you react? One of the most powerful people on the country just walked up to me and started acting like we're old friends.
Geun-Tea noticed this and groaned. "Why does everyone always do that?" He complained childishly. "Well think about it from her point of view Grun-Tea." Said Joon-Gi clammy joining the conversation. What the heck is going on! My head felt like it was spinning as Monduk followed. I was literally surrounded by four of the most powerful people in the country!
Monduk turned to me a kind smile on his face as my brown/black eyes meet his blue ones. "I don't think your name came up, little one." He chuckled. This seemed to grab Geun-Tea's and Joon-Gi's attention. "Uh? It didn't?" I asked. "That seems to be the case." Geun-Tea says. "Well then I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm May." I said giving the three of them a bow.
"No Surname?" Joon-Gi asked curiously. I gave a nervous smile. "Well, I guess I never thought to ask my dad what it was so I really don't know and I couldn't ask my mom I never even got to meet her." I explained trying my best not to make it look like I wanted pity or something pathetic like that. The three generals smiles immediately disappeared as they heard this looking at each other. I waved a hand in the air wildly getting their attention. "B-But! I never really cared about that stuff! It doesn't bug me! It just makes me stand out a little! Which kinda always gets me into trouble....." I cried waving my hands in attempt to lighten the mood. It seems to work as the all seemed to laugh at my strange behavior but the carefree mood that filled the large room only lasted a minute as it was interrupted with a loud bell.
Everyone turned to each other their eyes wide. I frowned. "Wh-What, does the bell mean?" I questioned rushing over to Soo-Won's side fearfully. He patted my head reassuringly and looked toward the others a stern look on his face. "Soo-Oh! What's going one?" I asked impatiently. He didn't answer. I looked toward the others. "Please tell me.... Is it an other intruder? Are they gunna attack me again?" I questioned.
"Intruder?" Repeated Mundok looking to Soo-Won and giving him a look that clearly said he wanted to talk to him later. "No, it's not an Intruder." Joon-Gi said glancing at Soo-Won as well. "Then what does it mean!" I asked again angrily. The response I received made my shattering heart skip a beat, the blood drained from my face and my knees threatened to give in one me as the words that seemed to cause the world to spin echoed off the room walls bringing my small world to a screeching spot.
"It means war!"
