I knew I would forget about this. The adoption, well, not really an adoption, but a forceful adoption. I remembered it the second I remembered how the cores made fun of me. I was literally taken from my parents as a small child so I could make her dumb! How offensive is that?! And I had a great life too. The fact that I lost my parents, just like her, doesn't bring us together the way you'd think it would.
And now that I finally remember, it's making me 100X guiltier about Chell. Being in her body, GLaDOS and I always made fun of he for being adopted. And it turns out I'm adopted. And she isn't. I didn't even know at the time. The engineers weren't only struggling with her, they struggled with me, too.
I didn't want to go into detail about it with them because I knew she would be really mad at me. And her mother would, well, split us apart by manipulating Chell. Actually, I'd rather die, because at least when I die, I know that the only real woman I've ever known cared for me.
I probably sound like I want her ever so badly because she's the only woman I've ever met. She didn't try to kill me or any of that like some of the other subjects did. She was smart as well. And you have to think of it like this;
I was designed to make her dumb. But I couldn't, because it didn't work. So if that was my only purpose, than what do I do? I find her. She gave my life purpose. As soon as I knew that the right thing to do would be to help her escape, I had my purpose. My purpose was to guide her. And my desire was to have her. Because I literally owe everything I've ever known to her. Everything but Aperture, and I hate Aperture. But that's too off track, which isn't new for me.
It would be pretty embarrassing to have to call for one of them to put me back on my rail, so I waited a little while. I thought about how Kevin stopped talking normally and went back to space again. I guess it's time, I'm not going to get back up there any other way.
She came in, sighed, and put me back on the rail. It was kind of boring, only being able to go into the living room and in here. To be fair, I wouldn't need to go anywhere else. I went back next to the couch to see GLaDOS staring at me.
"What?"
"Your friends are here." She gave a smile.
"They're on the couch behind me, aren't they?"
Chell nodded.
"Rats cannot puke."
"Hey look, it's the moron who lost his marbles!" Rick snickered.
"Now do you see why I didn't want them here?"
I still didn't turn around.
"Kevin, next time, PLEASE don't listen to her. She lives off of my misery."
"It's for the best. And not just for me. I thought it would help your bond. Trust me, you'll thank me later."
Chell nudged her.
"I mean, her. It was her idea. You'll thank her later."
"Hey! There's 3 people that you haven't seen in awhile over here!"
"Why is it so important?" I asked, irritated.
"You'll see if you would just turn around..."
They know how curious I can be. Sometimes I felt like all of the cores combined, except for Cakemix.
"Just turn around, Wheatley."
Wheatley. She called me by my name. If I had a slow clap processor, I would be using it right now. I took a deep breath and turned around.
"SPAACE!"
"No, it's 'SURPRISE!' You said it wrong." Rick corrected.
"Well... You guys look a bit-"
"Human?" Rick interrupted.
"Yeah. That. Am I the only person in this place who still hasn't gone crazy?"
"Yes." Craig (Fact Core) replied, quickly.
"Actually, you tried to kill all of us when you were in control, so that's something that you should, I dunno, maybe apologize for?"
"You guys are lucky! I didn't try to kill the people that I actually wanted to kill. I didn't do anything to you guys."
"Except for send us to space for 2 years."
"SPACE? SPACE?! SPAAAAACE!!" He clenched onto Craig, who tried to get him off.
"I didn't lay a finger on any of you. You know that very well."
"Then who did?"
"Uhmm, that-that's not important right now."
"You know who it is, don't you?"
"And so do you! Why do you want me to say it so badly, do you want her to hate me or something? Do you just want her for yourself?"
"Nope, wouldn't dream of it. She-she has brain damage. No way." Rick said, nervously.
"I didn't realize adventurers stuttered so often." I remarked.
To be honest, I was pretty proud of that comeback.
"This is going better than I expected. I'm sure you're wondering how I got them to become human, aren't you?"
The group nodded and we stopped our argument to turn around.
"Actually, I'll just tell you how I became human. I'm sure you two saw the new device of mine by the lair. All you had to do was make sure that you have your human body and mind and whatnot stored anywhere within Aperture. Including test subjects, like you." She said, looking towards me.
"Me?!" I asked. "I didn't test!"
"Didn't you? You were adopted for a reason, you know. I was going to make you my first 15 year old test subject. But you refused. You cried. For hours, you sat in the chamber and cried." She said, grinning again.
"Not so tough now, are ya?!"
I ignored him.
"Since you refused to test, the engineers thought that you should have a special job. You know the rest."
Chell seemed interested.
"Who says we aren't alike, anyway?" I said, looking at Chell.
"I do. So do the rest of the not so cores."
"How?"
"You ramble too much, you cry too much, you have a blue optic, and nobody likes that color anymore. You also feel emotion. And while I also do, I don't express it so much. I could go into detail about your girlfriend here, as well, but I won't. This conversation was only supposed to be about me. Thanks for ruining it, with your whole 'I didn't test!' act."
Chell grabbed he notepad and blew off some dust.
*For the record, blue is my favorite color.* I'm glad someone could agree.

A/N: Hey guys, sorry it's been longer than usual since I've updated, but hey, it's out now! It's out for all of you! And I'm still kind of looking for a name for human GLaDOS.
